I worked on a 4004 based 'smart' terminal, many, many moons ago - before PCs, it had a card cage and was programmable, could also do comms - HASP and the like, if anyone remembers that sort of thing...

Nice video, however IMHO you missed the paradigm shifting product known as the 80386.
Intels first fully 32 bit x86 cpu, that allows hardware multitasking, 4 GB flat address space, virtual memory, and virtual x86 mode, which allowed multiple fully functional real mode DOS VM'S to run simultaniously. in 1985!

More interesting story would've been about the "Traitorous Eight" and how they founded Fairchild Semiconductors that established Silicon Valley in what it is today seeding the area with talent people who left and made their own companies. Robert Noyce in particular. He was known as The Mayor of Silicon Valley for a reason. I think Fairchild Semiconductor was one of the the most influential company of 20th century.

The original IBM PC in the US (August of 1981) shipped with a Intel 8088 CPU (not the 8086). The 8088 was 8-bit, cheaper to make, and had higher production yields than the 8086. I had one of these original PCs (when it was new on the market), it ran at 4.77MHz, and was very fast for it's day.

And now compare this to a company like Apple, whose value comes only from the fact that their smartphones are alittle bit more shiny than other phones.

5:19 That's the computers we used in computer science in high school... in fucking 1993. Two years later, they finally moved up to Windows 3.11... and then stupidly upgraded to Windows 95 without upgrading the hardware. So all the PCs ran on a whopping 4MB of RAM. That was fine for Windows 3.11 but not for 95.
