Kraus Installation Series – Pop-up Drain (without overflow)

Jon gives you step-by-step instruction on how to install a Kraus Pop-up Drain without an overflow.

You will need a large wrench or a pair of channel locks for this installation.

Steps:
- Remove the Tailpiece, Coupling Nut, and Gasket (0:31)
- Insert the Drain (0:50)
- Install the Gasket and Coupling Nut (1:00)
- Install the Tailpiece (1:30)
- Attach the Drain Trap (1:53)

I can tell the build quality on that drain set is sturdy - and that's a plus in todays market where too many things are "flimsy" - the build on yours inspires confidence. ( That trap was an "S" trap by the way - not a "P" trap ).

I installed a sink with no overflow while ago and it's drains super slow unless I stick a straw down it to let some air in while the water is running. I have a standard drain with a pop up rod. Is there a certain style of drain that should be used with sinks with no overflow so that it doesn't drain so slow?

I bought a PU-11 and installed in KCR281, leaks past underside nut. not at all pleased. Now gotta run to hardware store to find better seal

whats different in the installation of a popup without a overflow and one with an overflow????

What exactly is the purpose of the bottom rubber ring (black)? Some videos show people putting it under the countertop (like you), while others put it up against the bottom of the sink. I think this ring is not to guarantee water tighthness from water in the sink, but only to prevent water on the countertop to seep down the hole.

Is a pop up drain supposed to come out of socket? Cause, I have a pop up drain. But, my step father installed it. So, it won't come out socket. Help me understand this. My sink smells bad.

On top of this video being really poor quality. Did you seriously make a drain that you cannot snake by taking the drain plug out? I have to take the whole drain assembly out to snake this drain?... Lord help us
