How to fix a leaky sink
To fix a leak under your kitchen sink, you need to put a pan down under the p-trap plumbing to catch the water that will gush out when you open up the p-trap nuts. Then you remove the long drain pipe from the bottom of the kitchen sink drain by unscrewing the retaining nut.
Leak under kitchen sink
Is your kitchen sink leaking under the rubber gasket? Then you can repair the leaky sink by using a universal drain basket wrench to remove the large round drain nut, then you pull the gasket and the cardboard friction washer, and push up the kitchen sink drain assembly from below, and it will pop up through the top side of the kitchen sink. Now you have no more leak under kitchen sink, and that is how to remove kitchen sink drain flanges.
Next you install the new kitchen sink drain flange, and go underneath to install the rubber gasket, then the cardboard washer, and finally the drain basket nut. Be sure to use one of the wrenches we link to below to tighten the kitchen sink drain basket nut.
Replacing drain pipes under the kitchen sink and check for leaks at the P-trap, and where the strainer drain meets the bottom of the sink, and make sure there is no water leak at the rubber gasket.
