Great comments min 27. I think those saying the Model 2 isn't needed are only thinking of the US market. Europe, India and Asia will go wild for it.

Agree with Jeff at min 19. They built up the model 2 as a new car not an altered model Y/ 3... I wanted to see Tesla innovative and push the boundaries of a new small car that can be sold around the world.

Car WoW just had a video that compared the new Model Y with the BYD Sea Lion. He chose the Sea Lion at the end without a summing up. But in the video he said;
Tesla had better drivability
Tesla was quieter
Tesla had more boot and front boot space
Tesla has better efficiency
Tesla has better charging network (well, BYD doesn't have one)
Tesla had faster quarter mile
Tesla is cheaper
Tesla has better infotainment
Tesla has faster software
Tesla is made in Europe vs BYD in China
Tesla is 400kg+ lighter

Yet he chose the Sea Lion. Very strange ending.

Surely selling model 2 on mass would help FSD develop further? Millions of additional miles driven all round the world and potentially could be added to the robotaxi network at a later date. Im a huge TESLA fan and we were "promised" new model(s). Im disappointed...

I was really excited for a cheap Model 2 car, and was looking forward to buying one in Europe here, and was looking forward to seeing it become the worlds most popular car sold everywhere... But sadly no, it isnt happening 😥😢

You all criticized anyone who said the cheaper Model 2 was cancelled and promised it was still coming second half of 2025. Now you all are justifying it all and acting like you never said those things. FSD can be rolled out globally but it will take longer to generate billions quarterly. The lack of a real Model 2 will leave a gap between now and when autonomy generates billions every quarter. You guys are all acting once Robotaxis and FSD will generate billions from the moment they flip the switch on. What bunk.

It's not clear to me why robotaxi, model 2 and AI can't all be done at the same time.

Fwiw I think that the "re-tooling" the lines was more extensive than we're led to believe.
Original Model Y was early.
Compact car could be ready to rock.
In the different interviews Munro, Top Gear etc., Franz and Lars share knowing glances and smirks.
Franz in particular has said the designs are all done a long time ago.
I think they're sick of the "always late" stories and are sand bagging.
It'd be fun to be right.

Until FElon admits that you need radar, lidar or even a FLIR camera to provide safe FSD, it's vaporware.

His ego won't allow him to admit this critical error.

The competition will destroy this egomaniac in the end.

Something nobody mentioned that fully supports the "compact car" version on the horizon is the fact Tesla is entering the India market, now, literally at the same time they're about to announce a new vehicle. India market has, even moreso than China but similarly, and moreso but also similarly to many European towns a very high VERY BIG proclivity towards a small form factor vehicle. If they drop a cybercab-similar but cram in more seats (that fold is good for those who need trunk not seats) that'd be a killer in all of these markets, and don't underestimate the markets of India and Europe for small form factor cheaper EVs if you're top of the tech stack.
