the impact driver literally has a hammer and anvil moving axially.

Just what I needed to know, without all the build up for a simple explanation, thanks guy

😂 short explanation but very informative. Never thought of that too, having not to change the bit so nice to have the drill and driver combo

Funny thing I actually use the bits the other way around. Drill bit in the impact and driver bit in the drill. I’m usually setting screws to a certain depth or don’t want to overturn them so the drill lets me set the screw at the right depth

I am still kinda learning how to use my drill as a driver, but I highly recommend using the clutch.
Figure out which clutch setting allows you to drive the screw without burying it in the wood and snapping your wrist.
It takes practice, but the drill is much quieter than the impact driver.
Also, there’s really no need to drill a hole if you’re driving small fasteners like in your video.

If I need to drill a hole in a concrete wall which to use first ? I want to drill plywood into a concrete wall what to use first ?

With trigger control on drill mode, on most brands, you can do delicate and tough work with a drill driver. I've put 2000 screws into work at home with my Milwaukee m18 drill driver and put large fasteners and small. Not once did it fail me. Trigger control on the user is key.
Never once used the impact. It's just so loud. And on speed 1 I can drive monstrous things with the drill driver. Most screws today in construction and most wood don't need pre-drilling. That is only for furniture /cabinet work.
I guess it's a matter of taste. The compact feel is great though! But then there are compact screw drivers without chucks and drill bits for them.... I guess If you are smashing down hex screws on the construction site all day? I just don't see the greatness of these big impact drivers. Noise is literally deafening too.

The hammering sound also helps save you from breaking screw heads. Using a drill you wont know till you snap a head off and the impact is letting you know its met heavy resistance and to stop. Promise if you pay attention itll save on screws. Cant speak on ryobi but my dewalt drill will try to spin out of your hands or breaks the srcew head if it meets too much resistance, it doesnt bog down like this.

Nice and concise on how they are different but useful doing a real world job.

Impact driver is to make 10x more noise where drill can for the most part get it done quietly. Yes drill might struggle a bit, but you get the benefit of clutch and quietness

For small screws a regular drill with impact mode might be good enough for screwing and unscrewing.

The main difference for me is the impact driver stays at home😂

Or get this. I can have 2 drills, and using a piece of test lumber, I can set the torque on the second drill to flush set the screws. Usually faster but his way works too. Different ways for different people but at the end of the day if it got built you did a good job
