We have a couple of these. I put on better forks, a suspension seat post and Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes on them. We just ride them on mild trails and rail trails. I wouldn't hammer on it like I do my mountain bike. We have slightly over 1000 miles on them so far and no problems. We've enjoyed them immensely.

I use this bike as a normal bike and I love it, I still can do 35km in full assistance after 3 months

Use this bike for a touring bike or a commuter and it will last you for years

I am sold according to the comments, what I've gathered is, it's not a mountain bike as advertised, but it's decent for casual or street which is exactly what I need. And you just can't beat that price.
So, thanks fot all the comments from this community, really helped with my decision making, cheers.

Cheap e bikes that work are a threat to the big guys that sell more expensive e bikes. This guy obviously is trying to make this bike look very bad so that you buy his much more expensive e bike from his company or some other that he has ties with. I have this Walmart bike and mine works and rides great.

This guy has his head up somewhere. I just bought the cruiser version, and am really happy with it. Why does he think that a $400 bike would be perfect out of the box, when you have to assemble it yourself? Kyle, I made it a few seconds in and gave up, if you're a bike guy you know how ridiculously easy V brakes are to setup. Stop being a gate-keeper. These bikes are decent for the money. I've been riding bikes for 40 years. This is my first venture into E bikes, it's cheap. Don't buy a Hyundai and whine it doesn't perform like a Ferrari...

I think 1/100 people will take it offroad. 99/100 people just want the cheapest ebicycle on market to ride (considerably alot faster than walking, without looking like a clown on small 14" wheels) on flat roads to work due to the ever increasing living cost .

My partner and I each bought one of these bikes, and while I agree that it shouldn't be marketed as a mountain bike, it is certainly the best bike for a beginner to e-bikes in general. Yes, there are a few issues but when I consider the price difference between this and a "proper" e-bike, I have no regrets in purchasing the thing. I have been satisfied with its performance as long as I don't do any of the extreme biking tasks that you do. All in all, your review is accurate(especially about the chain falling off every now and then)

Such a good video dude! At $400 I wasn't expecting a lot but man, I'm surprised at how fast it fell apart. Good point about taking off the "Mountain” and just marketing it as a commuter bike.

Kyle: Bike, is your assist ever gonna kick in?

Bike: Hold my chain guard.

I will say this. They did a very good job hideing the battery inside the bike frame.

A 36 volt lithium powered bike with a brushless hub motor weighing in at 48 pounds for $400.

Ten years ago, A 24 volt sealed lead acid powered bike with a brushed motor weighing in at 70 pounds (Ezip Trailz) ran you $500.

It's nice to see how far along technology has progressed. This bike is a great deal for $400 for someone who will take it the same places the majority of us will go, which is the sidewalks and side roads. If the batteries are of any sort of decent quality and the bike isn't thrashed, a person could see a lot of use out of this value oriented machine.

The review rocks. I saw a 500+ assist bike for sale and knowing they cost over 1500. I thought the price came down was getting ready to buy one then watched the many reviews and none of them were positive. So your views really help.
Thanks. STYC.

Yeah, rear hub motors are dangerous on any kind of trails. They're meant for paved, city commutes. Even a $2500 bike with a powerful 1500w rear hub motor is also horrible for trails due to the delays. You want a mid drive for that since the torque sensor is much more sensitive and will work with you over the poor cadence sensor.

Good info. I’m looking at maybe still getting this bike because at Walmart it says you can get 4 year warranty for $50. It says it covers to motor for the whole 4 years. Seeing what your thoughts are.

I bought this bike because the area I live in has a lot of hills and i was just peddling a regular mountain bike. Most of the time I had to get off and push up a hill. This bike was perfect for what I needed it for. And I have nothing negative to say about it and I chose this bike because I didn’t want to pay 800 or 1200 for a different model. So just riding around town this bike is definitely what I needed

You're attempting to ride this MTB like a BMX bike. Can you explain the difference between a BMX and MTB bicycle? Just because they look alike, doesn't mean they should be ridden alike. ;-) For your next trick, I bet you take Touring bikes down Downhill courses.
