It’s great!!! Thank you:) I just started and already like it:) My great-great grandfather Albert came down from Canada & Alaska through the Pacific NorthWest down to California but he died in Wash. state while working in a logging camp. My Great-Great Grandmother made it down to Los Angeles and started a laundry shop while my Great-Grandfather was only 5 years old.

Adorable! If only life could be so sweet and simple. I grew up on a farm in the woods like this.

5:30 "Since those fellows cut down all the trees above us, it's changed the climate."

This is a lovely and sad film.

What a wonderful movie. Never saw this before. A little bit like Green Mansions, living in the forest.

This movie was filmed in the Muir Woods in California, a redwood preserve. The character of Old John is cast in the image of John Muir, a poet and naturalist of a time past. It's too bad that the prints of this movie were not put on the best quality film stock. as after about 20 years the rich colors faded to what you see here. It should be worthy of colorizing with the latest digital system, which works very well and isn't as expensive as the earlier versions of the process were. I saw this movie when I was 5 years old and it kicked me into a lifetime of loving Nature and doing my little bit to preserve it. And to think that my father was a lumberman! At least he was opposed to the noxious practice of clear-cutting and not replanting. Even when the timber companies do replant, it becomes a monoculture of Douglas firs. No cedar or hemlock nor any of the other trees and shrubs that make a complete and healthy ecosystem.

Anything with Harry Davenport has class baked into it. A Poverty Row surprise hit in its day; it's too bad about the color - one wishes they had enough in the budget for Technicolor - but it's a surprisingly sweet-natured little effort. Nicely acted. Valuable also, perhaps, as an early cry for environmentalism.

I cried too when the squirrel died . I look after squirrels. And when the Raven lost her eggs . I look after Ravens and Magpies . And when the dog was shot . I had a nice dog called Spot.
