As the wife of a retired Family Doctor, this movie reminded me of the times my husband fought insurance companies and bureaucracies on behalf of his patients. Also, the times he missed school plays or recitals because he was holding a patient’s hand while delivering bad news or watching them pass. People don’t understand how much of their patients doctors carry with them, day after day, year after year. The secrets and fears they shared with him are with him even now. Most folks leave the office and don’t give it another thought until they return in the morning. Doctors don’t have that luxury. Their patients become part of them. Their lives are forever inextricably intertwined. Their pain, his pain. Their fears, his fears. Their secrets, his secrets. Even though he now suffers from dementia, I’ll make sure he watches this movie later today. I know it will bring him joy.

This movie and it's messages about health care (and overly sterilized food) are even more relevant today than when it was made. Great movie.

This film, so ahead of its time. Consider the historical era, and the other films being produced.

"Shunderson" delivers one of the finest closings to a most excellent soliloquoy - his Death then Life Story followed by "You're a little man." What a grand script this was.

I worked with a Family Physician for many years as a nurse. He was also my physician. I remember patients who were elderly or people who had no insurance bringing in skinned chickens and rabbits to pay on their bill. He always accepted it as payment.

I've not seen this movie before. I'm sick in bed and watched it on my phone. What a heartwarming story and example of compassion and loyalty.

I have to admit that it's taken me a certain age to appreciate a well written script..It's true, we work hard..we're tired whether we know it or not...we plant ourselves in front of the idiot tube and if there's enough action or noise or sexual innuendos...we accept that we've seen something good..This film we've just watched together, wherever we are, was Extremely well written, extremely well played and worth it's title of a Hollywood made film...Thank you for the upload...

This movie has been on my favorites list since the first time I saw it many years ago - it has Cary Grant who never gave a poor performance in his entire career and has a messagefor all to heed Love thy fellow man

Such a wonderful movie and the writers of the script hit the nail on the head when talking of how doctors would devolve into electronic healers with no personal interest in the patient. 😢

Anything written by Joseph L. Mankiewicz is a pure delight. I can't believe I can watch this here free! All About Eve and A Letter to Three Wives are two similar films with sophisticated dialogue like in this gem. In any film written by Mankiewicz, a character will mention "Wilkes-Barre, " an homage to the Pennsylvania city where he was born.

Based on the German play by Curt Goetz, which was made into a movie in Germany (Doktor med. Hiob Prätorius, 1950). I didn't know until today that there was a film version with Cary Grant and only knew the German film version. I am very happy to be able to see this wonderful version now.

Jean Crain is so beautiful and her voice is so smooth! Love the message of this movie and I love their accidental, mistake-ridden, silly lovely love!
