Is This MASSIVE Wal-Mart Tent Any Good?

This is my review of the Ozark Trail 10 Person Instant Cabin tent from Wal-Mart.

The only problem i had with the tent is one of the pole brackets broke and i ordered a replacement bracket from amazon which was a heavier than the original. I used my tent camping for 8 days and it rained two days, The tent did not have any leaks. I discovered that large safety pins are perfect for hanging fairy lights . I waterproof all tents and use seam seal. I use longer stakes for all tents . We own two of these tents and my granddaughter and her friend put it up and stayed in it for two weeks in the front yard. It was at the end of summer and the tent survived very well . I had to go out and tell them they had too much tension on the door, I live in NC, the weather changes at any given second. It performed well during this two week and had several rain storms. I did not observe any problems with rain coming in and we used ground cloth underneath. I did not see any floor leaks. I always take an emergency repair kit. Duct tape, cable ties, extra rope and tent stakes . I also have a 6 person instant tent and it has never leaked. Regardless if you know you are using a budget tent, prep the tent for your piece of mind. Waterproof, and seal seal until your hearts content.

Seam sealing and spraying budget tents can go a long way to helping them through light to moderate rain. :) Great for weekend cub scout outings

i have one of the OT's "boy scout style tents.. it a 2 person style. As hubby and I helped with the local troop when we lived in Ky. need to find the guy wires tho.. I was camping before I was born!! lolMy mom was preg with me at the time.

I have the dark room version of this tent. It has withstood several severe thunderstorms and numerous high wind days. Next to no leaks. The only issue is screws coming loose, which is normal given the conditions I've put it through

Typically, Ozark Trail makes a decent product. I own quite a few of their tents & they've all withstood the weather. On another note, I do live in the FL panhandle & weather is typically mild. Plus, I watch TWC so am advised in advance of outdoor conditions before setting up a tent.

We have the 11 person tent with back room. It’s held up great. The issue with big tents is you have to have a big camping area. I would do 2 8 person tents instead of one huge tent.

I suggest if you want talk hypothetical weaknesses then you should test them out thoroughly. Don't give a weakness if you can't prove it being weak.

Bad thing about big tents, if wind is gusting or strong, good luck setting up a big tent and keeping it up, I tried with a Coleman 10 person cabin and couldn’t keep it up.. kept caving in…

Thanks for the review. It looks easy enough to set it up and it is enormous. I can accept the compromises in the potential weakness against the elements being a budget-friendly tent, but the poor workmanship/material (e.g. the rips that already started to happen) that may cause tent to become unusable or needing a lot of mending after a few uses, it, is not money well spent.

Just got this tent on sale! Put it up today and it appears all the seams are tapped. Yours in this video does not look like they are tapped. I'm guessing they might have updated this tent. Even says in the description that it comes seamed tapped.

Well, if you put any tent in heavy rain you will have problems if it's not canvas. You have very good videos but just give credit where it's due meaning you had positive things to say about the tent but then cancelled your statements with your opinion.

NEVER buy an Ozark tent. It is Walmart's brand and there is zero backup by the company! The 1-800 number is a scam. I left 13 messages when one of my tent poles for my insta-tent broke the first time i used it. NEVER got a response. Shame, because i really liked the size of the tent!
