Lightroom vs. Photoshop - Which is the Best Photo Editor in 2023?

Adobe's Lightroom Classic and Photoshop softwares have long been the golden standard of photo editing, but both programs are not made equal. While Lightroom is more traditionally known as a place to catalog and apply basic edits to your photos, Photoshop has been known to have the capabilities to create extreme photo edits, giving users maximum control.

Because of the complexity of tools, many photographers shy away from Photoshop, which is used by more than just photographers. Because of this, Adobe has made some pretty great updates to Lightroom over the last year, making it more powerful as a standalone photo editor.

The question is, do the Lightroom updates make Lightroom sufficient enough to edit photos, or should you still be using Photoshop for photo editing? In this video, we dive deep, comparing Photoshop to Lightroom with all the most recent updates.

So, by the time I’m finished editing the photo, it’s is no longer a photo but a computer generated depiction of a life like scene. After a while I feel like I’m no longer a photographer. That’s when I go back to shooting film. It helps me affirm that I still know how to compose a scene and apply the basics to get the best shot the first time.

Well said Austin. It all depends on what you want to achieve. For most editing needs and cataloging, I personally use Lightroom as well. I will ONLY use Photoshop, IF there is something I can't do in Lightroom, like removing power lines or objects that I don't want there. And NOT for the AI stuff too. Depending on what it is, to me that's cheating.

Hey, bro, you have great videos. Thank you for making us happy with good content.
I have a small question - how are things going with Lightroom performance? I've never used it before, I've been working in photoshop for over 5 years. But the latest versions of photoshop do not please me at all, almost everything lags in them.
I have identified for myself 2 fundamental advantages of Lightroom compared to Photoshop - it's performance and the ability to process photos in batch mode. In Photoshop, you need to open each individual photo and perform the same processing for it as for the previous photo. It takes a lot of time and effort.
In fact - is Lightroom really more convenient than Photoshop in terms of photo processing?

So, if I’m right, for wildlife photography photoshop is better but harder for new photographers. Lightroom works great as well but seems to be not as good for professional use?
Edit: Can you use Tapaz Labs on photoshop or just lightroom?

Very good comparison, and very professional in your approaches. I'm an amateur photographer, but I sincerely prefer Photoshop to Lightroom. I find it easier to use.

Do you think I should use Lightroom or Photoshop for professional photo editing on iPad? Because in Iran we have to pay a lot of money to use it and I have only one choice.

Grest contrast and comparison. Sounds as if Photoshop os the way to go because of the layers. Perhaps yoi could make a cheat version of how to use photoshop for the beginner.
