We Learn Something New Every Day

This week we venture to the dock to get an engine seal replaced under warranty and take advantage of our time on a solid platform to tackle some of our own detailing work. After our time on the dock we get back in the water as Billy learns a new way to ride the foil and then we sink below the surface for some much overdue time under water.

I’m not real familiar with those sail drives but as a mechanic I always check for a plugged vent before any seal replacement. Sometimes it’s a tiny pin hole in the filler cap that gets plugged with salt or grit. As it heats up, the fluid finds the easiest place to relieve pressure. Just an idea.😊

Considering Billy is so accomplished on all sorts of water gymnastics - I found the section of foil board jetty starts utterly depressing for us lesser humans.😉👍

I've polished many a glass boat, usually in the shade, so I feel for the amount of upper body strength you put into Tula. Combined with all that pumping to foil, Billy must have eaten well and slept like a log. Excellent underwater footage, nice to have lobster season opening soon.
