As a fly fisherman I can say that trout absolutely eat flies this small and even smaller, the trout eat these midges off the bottom or near the bottom so you need to add some weight in some way (often times using a second heavier fly, or split shot) also thinner tippet, and a distance from the bobber to the fly needs to be at least the depth of the water.

That's a black and silver zebra mige. You're supposed to throw it into slow to some what fast current and once it gets tot he end of the currwnt you repeat till u chatch a fish

nymphs work really well with bluegill, only problem is it’s easy for them to swallow it so if you are catching and releasing be warned you can get it stuck pretty easily
