Dividing the field into thirds is a good way as well. If the ball’s first bounce in the first third, go. If it’s in the second it’s read, if it’s in the third third, likely a negative route given the shortness of time the ball took to get there. You can get a long look at it, catch, and still have time to make the throw. Just my opinion.
