Because duck tales was a great NES classic that many people missed out on. there you go, there's a reason for a remake.

The cutscenes interrupt the gameplay? The cutscenes are PART of the gameplay. If you're going into this game expecting just "duck pogo action" then yes, you would be disappointed, because that is not the goal of this game.
I see it more like a playable episode of the popular cartoon, and then the narration and the voice acting become a welcome addition.
I suggest Meatboy if you just want action platforming.

I love the cutscenes, it's the added value for something who loves Ducktales like me

When I was growing up in Chicago/Tinley Park in the late 1980's I used to watch the movie Duck Tales: Treasures of the Lost Lamp at least once or twice everyday, usually when I woke up and then played on my Commodore 64 or my Nintendo Entertainment System.  So seeing the original Duck Tales game being remastered so the graphics look like the cartoon is a bit of a Nostalgia trip even though nowadays I wouldn't watch the cartoon at all.

I find it amusing that a lot of people are complaining about the *CYNICAL* Brit being cynical.

I don't understand why the cut scenes are a big problem they are super easy to skip.

I played the original game on the NES and it remains one of my favorites, and is still considered by many to be one of the best platformers of that era. It was surprisingly hard, but we loved it anyway because it was like a playable episode of the cartoon, as another commenter said. The cut scenes are a hold over from the original, though in that they were just scrolling text with no voices.

TB if you play any emulators I'd recommend finding the original and trying it that way so you have an idea of where we're coming from. You might not have the same memories that we do from back in the day, but the Remastered game was a Godsend to many of us who are utterly sick of the constant FPSfest that modern gaming seems to have become.

To who it may concern:
That duck pilot's name is "Launchpad McQuack."

Most famous for loyalty, humor and crashing aircraft for our amusement.

I really really like the cutscenes. They add to the feeling and sensation of adventure.

@Tarantel666: Because, though he, like many of us 80s-90s kids, watched Ducktales, he's not really qualified to judge the game's remastering, having not played the original to give a proper comparison. Plus, he's judging the game based on the cutscenes, which are, arguably, some of the best bits in the game, since they use the original voice actors from the show and the original game had barely any dialog, yet alone cutscenes. Besides, the cutscenes can be skipped at any time, anyway.

I was born in early '96, so I never owned an NES, nor did I watch Ducktales. I have an NES now, however, and I have played Ducktales. I bought this game on day one, and turned it on with no pre-existing nostalgia, and I love it. I'm gonna go out and but some Ducktales on DVD, because the cutscenes made me want to watch the show. I respect you, TB, you're one of my absolute favorite YouTube personalities, but I truly believe that this game can stand on it's own two feet.

i love your videos but sometimes man -.- the game is supposed to be sorta like a episode, so of course its gonna have a lot of cutscenes

You weren't kidding about how old Alan young is, he's 93 and he did the voice for Scrooge in this game. That is so awesome!

I can agree with you about the audio logs; audio logs are some of my favorite things to have in a video game (mostly because they make it easier to tell you parts of the story that don't directly relate to your character). And interactive cutscenes are good when you want to give the player a chance to see (or miss) something important (good in horror/suspenseful games, I find).

But at the end of the day, there are certain things that a cutscene can do that gameplay just can't, unfortunately
