What is the Abundant Life Jesus Came to Give? John 10:10

Jesus said, "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10: 10). But what does this mean?

Many different ideas have been suggested. Sometimes people get disappointed or frustrated when they think about this claim because they feel they tried Jesus for a little while but their life didn't get much better. But this isn't a claim about enhancing our lives. Jesus was making a claim that is much more radical.

If we take the biblical claims at face-value, Jesus didn't come so we could have more of the same. Instead, He came to call us out of death into newness of life. To mistake this major point, is to think Jesus came to give us more of what we already had before He came... which would be abundant "death" instead of abundant "life."

The life that Jesus offers is about knowing Him and making Him known. Jesus is a life-giver, not a life-enhancer. These claims may seem similar but they couldn't be more different!

I'm glad you mentioned Ecclesiastes. I was thinking about it almost the entire video! Even when we live "life to it's fullest" (if that were even possible...) as the world knows it we're always desiring more. And not just of silly things, but more time for rest, more or better resources, more time with loved ones... More. Why? We're never satisfied. No matter how "successful" or "good" or the "quality" of a life we live we will always be desiring and searching or longing for more. We are desiring and longing for this abundant life. But certainly not as the world sees it - or how people often interpret this verse.
But I never feel this way or fall into this trap when I'm serving the Lord, praising Him, worshipping, praying,
studying... spending my time with Him. Really every waking breath ought be to the praise and glory of Him. This is especially true, also, when I tell people about Christ - it seems complete. I'm never ever left wanting with the Lord. I am always more than satisfied.

The life in abundance overflowing is wrapped up in the Holy Spirit. We all need to get Holy Fire baptized.

Praising the Lord is a suitable and worthy thing for Christians to do because the Lord is always good, always faithful, always just - He is the perfect sovereign King. Truly knowing Him Who we praise and making Him known to others that they may praise Him go along with this. Although I fail to do this thing which I recognize as truly worth while often and seek the life (or death) that is meaningless, I rejoice that His kindness continues to lead me to repentance.

He resurrected me from death, praise God for giving more than we deserve! In accordance with this word and john 10:10, john 5:24, romans 6:4, john 17:3, john 20:31, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 I bind to hell all lack of abundance of life in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquitances, opponents and the body of Christ, binding to hell being unequally yoked and having any common share with those lacking abundance of life, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah! ❤❤❤

Like your analogy on the words of Toby Keith’s song, and living in a life, no matter what life throws at you. 😊 Thanks for sharing your wisdom, look forward to your talks on Sunday.

Amazing explanation 🙏🏻 many people are dead thinking that the abundant life is materialistic. As the “thieves” or false prophets preach, mostly in the prosperity gospel. “They come to steal, kill and destroy”, as written in this same verse. Thank you for this video 🙏🏻

When Jesus said: "I have come to help you find "LIFE more Abundant" - he meant that he has come to help us work through our magnetic-emotional bondage and to find and make true contact with GOD - the Source of being.

Out of this contact comes increased LIFE which far transcends the "physical life" we draw from food alone.

Out of this contact comes spiritual direction, protection, and a Godly Inspired Path.

You can call this "The Narrow Path."

When we have perceived some deeper truth previously hidden from our consciousness, we must accept and rejoice that God has penetrated our human consciousness and spoken within our mind. Give sincere thanks and treasure this gift and reverence it. Never take it for granted, otherwise we will build mental defenses against the inflow of the Power of God.

But the word zoe also implies a productive life, one that earns its keep. Our ability to live means our ability to earn a living, maintain our bodily health by finding food, drink, shelter, and so on. Is this not included? Don't get me wrong, material things should not be the motive for worshipping Christ, but is it not included?
