Catheter Quick Tip - How long can you keep a catheter in?

It really depends on why you have a catheter as there are multiple reasons from surgery to disease to mental health reasons. that play a role in the length of time. This of course does not apply to intermittent catheters. From what I understand, and, in my case, every 30 days was when my urologist/nurses saw me get it changed to avoid infections and other possible complications.
Cheers, and wishing you great health. Tony

Hello Tony. Thank you so much for the informative videos on living with a catheter in place. I am almost 70 and just had a catheter installed for the first time yesterday, 5/7/24. I have watched all of them and truly appreciate your willingness to address these concerns directly. Lots of good information on how to deal with the daily routines of living with a catheter. Emptying, cleaning, sleeping, etc. I am still dealing with the discomfort and psychological aspects of having this thing inside me. Thank you again for the information. I hope you are well!

I'm at 3 months now and I wanted to change/ remove it myself as it is bothering me. I know how to remove it but I wanted to have an intermittent one in case I needed it. I can't get an appointment and it turns out I need a prescription to buy new ones. Doctors won't treat me and won't let me treat myself. I'll be forced to go to the ER.

Hi good afternoon sir. If a man aged 54 wear catheter for 3 months after booster Vaccine AEFI (3rd dose), even Dr. told to start work after 2 weeks of the 1st month, is it really safe? He's a motorcycle Patrol officer btw, working mostly riding bikes but sometimes driving 4x4 to monitor highway safety & maintenance quality.
