Magnus immediately plays Nc3... but first he castles

I don't sit at a sports bar and analyze chess matches, but I do sit at home with a beer and do that.

What did I learn? That I know nothing.

14:43 petition for levy to make one whole episode with this character

When I started playing, I saw chess as a strategic, tactical game but the more I learn about chess the more I think it's a memory game.

chiming in to say that i rarely watch chess videos, but the title kind of hooked me. the way you prefaced the game and got to the first few moves with stats such as "the last time magnus played this opening was 19 years ago" was definitely intriguing. once you got me to rook a to e1 i was done for. i was kind of expecting a video of a broader look at chess ratings, but you successfully kept my attention through what ended up being a somewhat normal style chess analysis video. huge props man for being able to do that

Life goal: watch Levy talk about chess at 102 years of age.

14:40 - That commentary sounded like the F1 commentators at a Little Tikes circuit, and I'm here for it!

This video reminded me of just how good Levy is at genuinely analyzing a chess game. Through most of his videos, we get to see his entertaining side, which is fine, but occasionally, it's great to see him do a 30-minute deep dive into one chess game. Hope he does this more, and for really interesting tournaments like the ECCC.

As an 1800 im starting to appreciate Magnus's universalstyle very much. He was Garry(Re1) + Karpov(prophylactic a3) + Fischer(aggressive g4 after since he had a tempo)

As someone who guessed Bb1 correctly I consider myself the second greatest player after Magnus. Also I am 800 rated.

I think Super GM is already a pretty accepted term. For the past 15 or 20 years, 2700 has been the line between GM and Super GM to most chess fans, I think.

I like how Levy managed to up himself above GM title, after not achieving it, well played sir

edit: I did not misspell Levy's name, carry on

The mindgames here are insane:
- The fake pawn push with the double rooks while actually just setting a roadblock of the pawns to coax a desperate sacrifice at some point
- The fakeout with the queen and rook to the left to make it look like his real plan was to shift to infiltrate into black's ranks starting with the queen and then barreling with the rook and bishop, purposely keeping his own queen also on the dark squares to sell it.

I wonder if Magnus had kept those fakes as potential real options or if he was deadset on the bishop/queen threat. That knight guarding all the key dark squares worked so perfectly, knowing Ravi's queen was going to act as a dark bishop, but simultaneously it would only take one move to get the knight to attacking some light squares in Ravi's ranks. Same with the bishop just one move from targeting any light squares...

Magnus probably kept all options viable on purpose... such incredible precision...

Can we appreciate Magnus for continuing to playing chess so that Levi can continue his job?

The higher title should go off of noble rankings and be called, "Royal Master" or "RM." While the #1 ranked player can call themselves the "King of Chess."

I love how super Grandmaster isn't official, but everyone knows what it is

Levy, can u pls keep this sort of content coming? A more in depth analysis of just a game or two. This is where I learn the most from you. Even if it's not just Magnus, this is the type of content i love most from ur channel. And probably the most informative in terms of learning chess (for me at least)

Can we just take a moment and give props to Ravi. Man played an over an hour against Magnus and had an equal position.

I don't think anyone over 2700 maybe 2800 needs a unique title. There's only really a handful of people in the world with those super high ratings and they're already known by name. A new title would be superfluous for them.
