People guessing never read the sagas and legends of Ragnar. He was always going to die because that is how he ends up. The line he said about little pigs snort when they hear how the old boar suffered is a direct quote he meant to have said. Though he isn't proven to have existed. The story was always meant to kill Ragnar and then his sons become legends. Seems people are so incapable of accepting characters can die. His sons become legendary too like bjorn becomes king of Sweden
