50mm vs 35mm vs 85mm lenses

Couldn't you have just gotten closer with the 50mm? Would it have looked the same as the 85mm?

As a shy person who hates to interrupting other people's day, i love that 85 for street photography/portrait.. Give me enough space from subject i wanted to take..

Blurred background is overrated. Yes you can get object separation without context easier, but wide angle lenses give you perspective separation while also giving you context. The greats preferred wide angle lenses but they were also the masters of composition. Long lenses have their place however. But it's not always obvious.
