Great video. Why do so many people talk about ground forces from the ground then? Are they missing the head drop, even when using Gears? Also, is the head drop actively done? Or it is a function of a proper pivot?

Thanks for sharing the Pete Cowen clip and providing your interpretation of it. I've long disliked the term ground force reaction and people saying the ground pushes back. The ground is an inanimate object, and it doesn't do anything. Also the ground we golf on isn't a trampoline, and doesn't shoot us up like a piece of elastic connected to free floating springs causing it to rebound. I don't have access to gears to look at pros movements, but I did toss pros into and play around with Sportsbox AI, and from what I recall the downward lowering seems to occur on pros around the time they reach left arm parallel in the backswing (start of transition), and then upward movement seems to occur when the left arm reaches parallel on the downswing. Are you suggesting at the end of this video that conscious upward intention is not necessary? (That would be nice since the swing occurs in such a short amount of time - there isn't much time to think about let alone execute a lot of movements). I've long struggled with looking like I've got a bunch of side tilt, bent right arm, and a scrunched look at impact (maybe a little Dustin Johnson like), and I'd much rather look like a Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Rory Mcilroy at impact where the right arm looks pretty straight, and there appears space between the body and arms at impact. I've felt I've needed some sort of upward to not get the scrunched look at impact, but maybe that's not the case? (I know straight upward is not a solution, because like both you and Pete say that causes early extension.
