Lisa Ziegler's "Cool Flowers" really has helped me expand my flower garden. Thank you for introducing her book to me, Danelle. I sowed 7 new varieties this past October, I can't wait to see them!

What a great video! I haven't bought any new gardening books in awhile, but I think I might have to now lol. One book that I do rely on quite often is an older one by Barbara Damrosch - The Garden Primer. For inspiration, I always go back to Martha Stewart's Gardening Month by Month and Rosemary Verey's Good Planting Plans.

Thank you for all the book titles, Danielle. I bought Cool Flowers because of your recommendation on a different video, and I agree that every gardener should own that book. It is full of information that many or most of us probably never knew, and it is written in a straightforward, interesting way. It has definitely changed the way I will garden from now on. I plan to check some of the other books you recommended today as well. Thanks again.

Thank you Danielle- these books get me through the winter and inspire me! I requested that our library buy them all! Waiting to see if they will. I own several of them already - I am especially fond of Sarah Raven’s books. I think YOU should write a book! Not all of us have flower farms and are trying to grow cut flowers in a few beds and in our landscape. There are really no books out there for how to do this in the landscape garden. That’s how I found your channel - searching for how to grow cut flowers for the home owner incorporated into the landscape. Your garden is beautiful and you have so much to share for how to do this! With cut flowers being such a popular movement, NOW is the time for you to write your book! And…be sure to include pictures of you in your garden!

Thank you for sharing! My must have book is “the well-tended perennial garden”. It is largely a reference book, but it is the one book I have found that focuses on maintenance. I really need a book like that for annuals (and biennials), being rather new to growing them

I got cold chills when you mentioned “Boxcar Children”! I LOVED those books! What an amazing legacy from your grandparents - how blessed you are!

Danielle, I bought Cool Flowers after you had mentioned it in another video and find it to be a great resource. So glad I bought it. However, it has been your videos that sparked a fire in me to finally create the cutting garden that I’ve wanted for many years. Your videos helped me understand what I need to do to succeed, and your flowers….simply gorgeous. I am also in Lancaster County, so it’s super easy to follow along. I check every day to see when you might be starting seeds or what you’re doing in the garden. Thank you!!

Oh my goodness, you got me when you spoke of your grandparents and how they inspired am a grandma to five, so your story of them was really special. Is your garden named after your grandma's ?

Based on your previous recommendations I bought 2 books, Cool Flowers and Floret's Cut Flower Garden. I have found both extremely helpful. Now, I will have to head to my local book store and pick up another. Thank you for always sharing your experiences with us. 🙂💐

No one ever offered me money to read books. If they had, I would be rich. I do think you should get a commission for the number of "Cool Flowers" bought on your recommendation, including my copy .it is an epic discovery. As for the other titles, they are my own Book of the Month Club since I will buy one every month. Thank you for your wise counsel! You are a treasure!

Thank you, Danielle for this list. I went straight to Amazon and bought The Posy Book and Everlastings. I even still had a gift certificate credit from Christmas so double bonus! Thank you for all you do. You make these cold winter months a little brighter!

I was ‘window shopping’ on Amazon this evening and ended up ordering 3 books……….Cool Flowers (Reg price $22.95 Amazon $17.99), Cut Flower Garden ($24.87) and The Flower Hunter (Reg price $40.00 Amazon $29.56). Amazon was having a promotion on certain items where you buy 3 and the lowest price item is free. So, Cool Flowers ended up being free.

Thanks again for sharing your love of flowers.

Hi Danielle. I bought Chris McLaughlin book called Growing Heirloom Flowers-Bring the Vintage Beauty of Heritage Blooms To the Modern Garden. I enjoy this book every time I refer to it. Her cover is absolutely beautiful and textural. She also describes the history of flowers as well as growing them with tips. She also has a sense of humour that is entertaining.

I loved your stories about your grandfather and reading. I’m an English teacher and it’s so fun to hear how kids develop their love of reading.
