How to Get an EIN Number for Free (2024)

As an attorney, I'm often asked how to get an EIN for free for a client's business (LLC, corporation, etc.). In this video I'll take you step by step through the process to obtain an EIN number (Tax ID) for your business for free.

The EIN Number for your business is also known as the entity's Employer Identification Number (EIN) or tax identification number (Tax ID). I explain why you need an EIN or Tax ID, and then I take you through the process so you have a free EIN / Tax ID by the end of this short video.

What state to select for the question "Where is the business physically located" (3:01 in the video) - if LLC is formed in Wyoming but the listed "Principal office address" (#5 in Articles of Org) and mailing address both are in Texas? I have a question, on the page where you put what county the business is in, do you put your county and state of where you are or the state and county of the state that you formed in? And if the answer is the state and county of where you formed in. Example: I live in Florida and I form an LLC in Wyoming. Do I list Wyoming as the state? If so, then what county do I list? Is that somewhere in the LLC formation documents? Really appreciate your help.
