Morning! How do you like this NEW format?! :)
PS. Note at 00:36 made an edit mistake, this was taken with the built in b&w strong contrast profile not edited with the presets see around 09:00 again when I take the photo. I did however redit some raw into B&W too.

I got the 50 mm F1.2 GM from Sony last year. I had the 24 mm GM F1.4 and the 85 F1.8 for my A7C but I felt like I wanted something in between those two focal lengths and I didn’t want to have to switch between my lenses all the time. Now my 50 stays on 100% off the time❤

The best lens I have ever own is the RF 70-200 F2.8. Love it, so sharp.

Another awesome video Pierre. I agree that everyone who is looking to buy that first prime lens, should absolutely grab the 50mm f1.8 aka... the nifty 50. It was the first prime I purchased and I still use it almost everytime I take my camera out of the bag. Love it!

I started with 50mm 1.8 as well. Its was good but it was too tight for family pics and walking around, but too wide for portraits. So instead i am now using 35mm and 85mm

I started out with a Minolta 50 f1.4 with manual focus. Great bokeh and vintage look. Furthermore the aperture really helps in low light.

My first lens is a 50mm f1.8 from Yongnuo and still loving it till today
Used it on by APSC Canon DSLR and now on my Canon R10. My 2nd and other only lens is the 24mm f2.8 for landscapes
Love them for street photography.

I currently shoot on a Sony a7c and have just bought my first 50 mm F 1.8 and it is awesome! Shots are tight and the bouquet is amazing.

Who else noticed the lighting on the buildings behind Pierre around the 2:30 mark? 😆 Another great video! Love the 50, especially as a stepping stone. It helped me figure out which direction to go on focal lengths (50 started to feel sterile). I do still have the 55/1.8, but it's mostly the 35/1.4 and 85/1.4 these days!

I have a 50 1.8 for my r8 and loving it. However, I actually prefer a 35mm, because it is easier to use in more cramped locations and it is wide enough for landscapes as well.

I got the ef 50 1.8 as my first prime lens, nowdays i kinda use my 35mm 1.8 more cause i like to include a little bit more context. Still some of my favourite pics of my family are made with the ef 50 1.8. Also when i started out it was so cheap and therefore not a big commitment into a new hobby.

I have a 50mm 1.8 for my apsc nikon d7200. It is my go to lens for my streetphotography. I like this little telephoto lens, I can focus on some detail and still include some context

Nice video Pierre. Reminds me of my last trip to Chi-town last year. At the time, I had my Canon R6 for less than 6 months. The RF "Nifty 50" was my second lens purchase after the RF 24-70 f/2.8. When I travel, I typically take the RF24-240 and the "Nifty" as this setup is compact, flexible, and fun! Best lens, no. Excellent lens, definitely!

My first prime lens was an 85mm f1.8 and it's still my favorite one. My two other favorite prime lenses are the 300mm f4.5 and 135mm f2.8
I prefer more reach and background compression.

Nikon 50/1.8 G Then the Sigma Art 50/1.4 EF! Tried many primes but the 50 is always the starting point for those nice creamy shots at a very affordable price. The nifty fifty can be versatile. In that it’s not super cropped in like say a 85. But it’s not very wide. One could use as a potential walk around prime and as a portrait lens as well. Just depends on what your goal is!

My first prime lens was the 50 1.8 for my Canon T3i, and I still have it and use it in a T7i and with an adapter (manual mode) in my Olympus Omd Em10 ii. I haven't tried it with my Sony a7ii yet, but I do have the adapter. It just works so well with the Olympus. Anyway, fun times. I currently am really liking my 35 mm 1.8 for the Sony, but eventually I will get an Ef lens 50 mm 1.8. Just not for a bit.

50mm is my first interchangeable lens, even before i have my own camera lol (i borrow from the office). my gateway in to 'serious' photography after feeling limited when using only my phone for photography. 55-250mm is my second lens and since then i fall in love with street photography.

I have 50 1.8 with nikon z6, and 35 and 85 1.8 but for now I like the 85mm more.. because of depth of field. I agree with you in everything. problem is when you have 3 or 4 lenses in your bag. you always use the favorite one. The best option is to go out with only one. of course not the favorite one😊. I will use more 50 from now.

I have the 50 1.8 and the 55 Zeiss 1.8. Love shooting with the 50. My walk around combo.
