Each nation (at least for the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation) has different methods to finding the avatar shown in the novels

I think I can say that this small dot separated from the tattoos of ancient nomads is to represent the last chakra. Something like the tilak to attract good energy and represent the release of the energies of the last chakra or something like that.

I agree a lot with your proposals to show the mastery of domination with symbols and titles but I think it could be more complex.

Different symbols for different degrees of mastery, like the incomplete moon for someone who reached the first stage of mastery and the full moon with the ocean for the great masters.

A dragon-shaped mare or adornment for the youngest masters of fire and the title of dragon would be given to the highest master or whoever killed a dragon proving that he surpassed the original master (my headcannon is that this pointless hunt is so that the royal family or humans would be considered the great masters or something like that).

It's actually quite fun to think about this.

12:00 I think I read somewhere or saw a video that said Avatar Yangchen the Airbender Avatar before Aang could in fact produce a bending assisted sonic scream powerful enough to deafen people at close range and create powerful blasts of wind.

Temperature bending being related to breathing makes a lot of sense outside of what was said in the video. It was explained in the show that fire bending (which is basically temperature bending) is derived from the breath. So it already in universe has that foundation

- tattoos: With earth benders that might be difficult. The more if they also can metal bend. As a main ingredient in tattoo ink is based on metals. They might just pull the ink out of themselves. On the other hand they might also be the best to give others tattoos and they can bent it in every way you could imagine.
I could however see them wearing ceremonial rings with claws on the fingers. they might even be able to use in combat. like firing the individual claws like a dart.
a bit like how the DiLee use there stone gloves but more refined looking.

- with the new airbenders the energy helix could be a thing. I can also see it happen that those that are still direct related to Aang and Tenzin will still uphold the old style. in a way creating a division. (that can be a interesting plot for in a farter future)



- with the Jing and Yang part. for water benders there basic form already is Jing and Yang. As the moon and ocean spirit are the direct source of the energy it self.

In there case I would say the biggest power would be to only use Jing or Yang.
Like only act as a extension of the moon spirit and use there own energy to increase the moon energy closer to a full moon.
the downside is they them self can not fight or even move. they have to stand/sit still. They can't use the energy them selves but other water benders can.
