This PS5 from eBay was only $300... 🧐 it has an issue with the disc drive, but supposedly everything else is working properly. So it's basically a digital PS5 for $300 - very solid deal if it works. There are some other interesting things going on inside of this console as well, like an extra warranty sticker that Sony definitely didn't put there. I had the disc drive go out on my OG XBOX years ago and had to replace the laser in it. Required some minor soldering (which I was mostly unfamiliar with at the time). Sounds dorky as hell, but when it booted up and read the disc first try was a feeling I'll never forget.

Cannot thank you enough. My PS5 disc drive stopped working a few months ago with the exact same issue and sound when it tried to read discs. Alway saying unsupported or dirty disc, even though they were all PS4/PS5/4KUHD/Blu-ray discs without a mark on them. Sony wanted $230.00 plus tax to repair it as the warranty period has passed and no local repai shop would look at it for less than $200 so I have just been playing the digital downloads I had up until now. Was able to order a brand new replacement lens from the same seller you used for less than $60.00. Received it in 3 days after purchase and it came brand new in a sealed box as was advertised. Installed it and system is working perfectly now. Thanks

Speaking on what you said about the feeling of fixing something, one time I put a green film in my Xbox Series controller for the Xbox button light, and in the process of unhooking one of the wires, I may or may not have broke the wire and the circuit board 😬. I just took an old series x controller and replaced the wire and the board with barely any soldering experience. It was an amazing feeling after a about 3 hours of work.

80 percent of the time disk drive issues are caused by loose/corroded ribbon connections. I've fixed 5 by just removing the cables cleaning the pins and putting it back in.

Open the drive and move the laser lens back and forth and you should be good to go. The gears in the lens will lockup on some consoles due to Sony using too little lube in the moving lens. Previous owner probably already tried that. If you use a heat gun you can take the stickers off without leaving a residue.

I bought a $300 ps5 disk edition from Facebook marketplace. Came with a $220 scuf too. Thought it was a scam but the guy just wanted to get rid of it. No problems on the ps5 or the controller either, I got pretty lucky.

$300 still a pretty decent price even with the broken disk drive. Idk how much the repairs would normally cost but I can’t imagine they’d eclipse the remaining balance to put you over a retail ps5.
