Great review!
In ~20years of laptop usage, I've never had to download software for a dock - so that was particularly eye-opening for me. Also the audio-port issue is a deal-breaker for me. You saved me from unnecessary trip(s) to the store.

I noticed that you didn't have the dock powered. This may have been causing (at least some of) your issues. You're supposed to plug the power supply into the "Power In" port at the end (by the ethernet jack), then the dock will pass the power through to your laptop. If your laptop's power supply is barely enough to power your laptop, you may need to use another more powerful power supply (the JCD543P version comes with a 100W power supply), or your laptop may give you a notification that it's not getting enough power.

I've downloaded and installed the drivers, plugged it in with the J5Create power supply and the dock still doesn't register (i.e. no devices work plugged into it). I'm using a Windows 11 Pro MiniPC with a 13th-gen i7 and 32Gb RAM. This dock is too expensive to simply not work and, as such, is a very pricey paperweight. It worked intermittently in the past on my Surface Pro, but I need a reliable dock for my studio computer and it upsets me greatly that this thing sucks so hard. Their customer service is less than helpful. I like how honest this review is.

I think it's such BS that we have to download software to use the device. Had that been made clear on the packaging I wouldn't have bought. I got this so I could dock my work laptop at home to continue my work, however I cannot install the software until my companies tech dept. 1. approves it and 2. remotes into my laptop to install it.

My LAN and Mic/Speaker port is not working in the J5create JCD543P docking station connected to Windows 11 laptops. The device manager keeps on refreshing trying to install something. This is happening on all the laptops and tried with different docking station. Any help ?

this J5 docking station slowed down my laptop with a lot lagging and freezing. Up to this day I can't plug both of my dual monitors in at the same time, it just won't work or pick up both! Had to plug one directly into my laptop and one in the docking station, which defeats the whole purpose of me getting it in the first place. so disappointing. As we speak I am not using it only the monitor that is directly plugged into my laptop, because once I plug it in, my productivity and efficiency goes down, and laptop starts freezing up.

Not a great experience on windows either. Instructions are poor but it does come in several languages. One working set in a legible font would be nice. An easy to see tech support number with hours that don’t require you to take a day off of work would be appreciated. So far it hasn’t been a great experience and it does seem cheaply made.

I am using this docking station and can't get it to connect my 2 external monitors. Only seems to connect one. I have to connect the second monitor directly to my computer 😡
