🔸India has more consumption of jaggery than other countries as 70% of the world’s jaggery production takes place in India. We’re conditioned to believe that sugar is the bad guy, and jaggery- the good guy!

🔸Jaggery is a type of refined sugar, with other additives in it.

🔸So jaggery also has iron, but jaggery still is sugar. It has all the calories of sugar, and it has a higher glycemic index than sugar itself. So no, jaggery isn’t healthy. It may be SLIIIIIGHTLY healthier than sugar, but that doesn’t make it a “healthy alternative”.

Man I love my sugary chocolates and coke but leaving them for like 2 weeks showed me no visual changes in my body so I started again and I now I feel guilty. How about a detox yet again for the 7th time only to fail miserably 😢

While the intentions behind this video maaay be good the message clearly puts sugar at par with jaggery which isn’t true. worse it sends the message that eat sugar not jaggery. More than glycemic index one needs to look at glycemic load (GL). GI gives speed but GL gives amount of sugar increase. Ex watermelon’s GI is 72 which is higher than that of sugar but GL is 5. Jaggery GL is 8.2 sugar in best form has GL of 13.

Less carbs in Jaggery than in sugar. Also Sugar is refined through chemical processing so ya Jaggery is a better substitute for sugar. Plus the taste is way better 😂
