Wingfoil Jibe - Why did she crash?

Sometimes we know exactly why we crash, and other times we need someone to tell us why. Let's take a look at this video analysis from our wingfoil instructor, Jonathan. He's going to break down this wing foil jibe and help explain what went wrong, where it went wrong and how to fix it.

Learning is a process that involves trying, failing, correcting, trying again. Video analysis is a great way to help speed up progression, as well as taking lessons and getting proper coaching.

Gear used in video:
Starboard Freewing Air V2

Starboard Takeoff 6'3"

Axis Foils BSC 1060 setup

Kaohi Double Coil Calf Leash

I see a lot of value in "what they did wrong" videos, and a drone sure adds value. One challenge for me though is keeping track of where the wind is coming from, as she's moving and the camera is moving.

Would be most helpful if you also demonstrated the solution. Some may not know what you mean by “jibing the wing”.

I like this and would like to see more if this in the future.. I am an almost jiber.. with no locals to learn from (alaska).. gonna look for anything more you have on jibing/footswitch etc.. then head on out and try again.

Really helpful thanks. I’m also just starting to jibe and found this method of going through video step by step quite helpful. Would love to also see a corrected version of a jibe to compare with. 😊

She went too far upwind toe side and then she leaned to the inside to grab some wind. Stay downwind while riding the board flat.

Globally the jibe is acceptable and she fells only because she has her buttocks way too much back when exiting the jibe and repowering: she couldn't oppose the power of the wing. Had she well arched her back she would have repowered without any problem.
