I GRADED CARDS WITH BECKETT GRADING SERVICES (BGS) FOR THE FIRST TIME! GREAT RESULTS AND GRADES!

Today I am reviewing the results of my first submission with Beckett Grading Services (BGS)! I’m no expert on grading, but I did want to grade a few cards I had sitting around for a while. Since I did PSA last time, I decided to try BGS this time! I opted to send my cards as part of a group sub with DKCards. Overall, it was cheaper, easier, and much faster compared to how it would’ve been if I had sent the cards in myself. I was pretty happy with the results of my Luka Doncic, Zion Williamson, and LeBron rookies/cards! If you want to grade cards, I’d recommend you go to their site and read up on the process. That was a cool video I just sent some of my cards to a guy called Sappy, ...he’s really good at doing stuff like this himself. I should be finding out what grade they got in about a week or two. It’s nice to have people who can even crack some already graded cards for you and resubmit them.... I have a Luka hyper prism that got a nine and it was just .5 off from being at 9.5 so I’m going to send that in to him see if I can get that to a I like the beckett case better than PSA because to me it just looks better. although they need to get rid of this 9.5 nonsense and just call it a 10 for pete sake

Sending cards in to someone who does submission groups saves a lot of money on shipping and grading cost if you have only a few cards to send in

I just got back a LeBron 2003-04 Topps chrome rookie refactor from Beckett. I don’t know much about cards, I inherited the LeBron card.
Grades came back at:
Center - 8.5
Corners - 9.5
Edges - 8.0
Surface - 3.0
Overall - 4.0
Obviously, I am extremely disappointed. I looked at the card closely and never noticed any issues with the surface. I am reading on the Internet now that I should’ve cleaned the surface. Do you have any recommendations as to how I should proceed? Also, what could’ve been wrong with the surface for it to come back so low? The first time I ever sent a card to get graded and I feel beyond defeated. What would it even sell for at such a half ass grade?

Any input from people that know the ins and outs would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, I love everything about Beckett better than PSA... The only argument that PSA loyalists can make is that a PSA 10 outsells a BGS 9.5.. Which isn't always true by the way.. I will put any BGS quad 9.5 or better up against a PSA 10 and compare them side by side.. And you said it exactly right in your video! 90% of the time the centering will be better on the Beckett graded card.. I can't tell you how many times I have seen PSA 10's with bad centering and said that would be lucky to get a 9 from BGS!! And finally I would just like to remind people that a Beckett 10 is the pinnacle of the hobby.. Especially a black label 10.. Any Beckett 10 will outsell a PSA 10 by leaps and bounds!! We are talking double and triple the money that a PSA 10 would get.. The PSA loyalists usually say "Yeah but those are so hard to get and are few and far between".. Over the past two years I have submitted probably about 120-150 cards to BGS, and have gotten back about 12-15 10's from them.. Now in the last year that I have become better at selecting cards for grading, I get back more 10's now then I did in the beginning.. I got back 4 10's one time on a single 15 card submission... I tell PSA loyalists, you can't get back a Beckett 10 by submitting to PSA... End of story..

PS... PSA started grading cards about 7 years before Beckett did.. So they have loyalty from older collectors because of that also.. When I was a kid back in the day (pre-internet), the Beckett price guide was second only to the Bible.. Lol.. We always had to have the latest copy.. ;)

Did anyone notice that Beckett just upped their prices for Sub grade services this month? I filled out a submission form 2 weeks ago with a certain price but when reviewing the site again today, there was a new increase. Instead of $15 for 100 cards at 30 day service, now it's 20. Does anyone have any literature? Did anyone notice this change? I like BGS but might have to try PSA
