Sci-Fi Wednesdays - Revell 1/4000 Star Destroyer - ep. 03

Welcome back sci-fi fans to our Revell,1/4000 scale Star Destroyer! Today we are going to start getting this kit into paint, but first we need to prime, preshade, marble coat and then we can mix up some light grey for the base color.

As usual, I will use Stynylrez Gray for the primer and NATO black for the preliminary preshading and marble coating. After that, I'll use some Tamiya Flat White and drop in a bit of Tamiya Neutral Gray. I will start off with about a 3:1 ratio, see how that goes and work the color from there. That should make a really nice looking base coat.

After all of that, I want to try highlighting the raised areas and edges of the model with Flat White, to add some contrast and then I will add some tiling with Tamiya Sky Gray, to add visual interest. I think that should about do it for today.

Next episode we will overcoat everything in a very thin blending coat of either White or our custom Gray, add a gloss coat to the kit and weather it down and dirty it up. If everything goes according to plan, we should be on track to wrap it up on our next episode. So until then, take care, be safe and go build something awesome!
