Calgary couple’s $8k Christmas village display 35 years in the making

A Calgary couple is showing off their winter wonderland that has taken over 35 years to create.

Dave Kyle and his wife Ann Craig have spent the past two months creating their annual Christmas village.

According to Kyle the total cost for their village is “roughly around $8,000.”

“There’s about 200 houses and well over 1,000 figures” Craig added.

The couples say they are on the hunt year-round, going to thrift stores and garage sales. They even fix up pieces that are broken and give them a new life.

Under 10k spent on a hobby over the course of 35 years is pretty incredible, dude is respectfully frugal. My Mom has done a great little Christmas village for most of my life but this couple has taken things to a whole other level. Very Cool.

This is so beautiful. It brings me back to when I used to come over my mom’s friend’s house as a little girl and I swear when I go inside their house at Christmas time and see their little Christmas village in their dining room, it looks and feels like I just stepped into a Christmas fairy tale that it makes me feel warm and happy. ❤❤❤

Great village it’s awesome. Just looking for new ideas and I love the mountains in the background Thanks for sharing. I was pumping water out of basements during hurricane sandy in 2012 and one of the lady’s had a huge collection and because everything had green stuff from the water all over them she said throw everything out. I ended up taking them home and cleaning them with a little soap and toothbrush and they are as good as new my children enjoy the village every year since.
