Thanks for all your videos JB, I bought this exact same mower 3 weeks ago from my Toro dealer. Right off the bat I learned how to take the engine cover off, since this new model has a redesigned cover with the black trim. So I want to pass along how to do it since you won't find information anywhere.
The red cover itself has 2 torx head screws to remove, but there is a hidden one underneath the black trim. To remove the black trim, Stand in front of the machine looking towards the back of the engine, the back of the trim is a tab you push back underneath the red cover, look for the rectangular cutout off the black trim, I used a flat he'd screw drive to push the tab back while lifting a little on the back of the trim. Once you have the loose ther are tabs on each side of the trim just about where the "electric start label is. Push each one towards the center of the trim while lifting a little more on the trim piece. Once you have the 3 tabs released the black trim rotates off the front of the cover and then you will see the last torx screw..
Might be a good subject for you to make a short video on... thanks for what you do.

I had that Toro Super Recycler mower-within three weeks it was sputtering and not wanting to start.I went out and got the last Honda with the lucite body and electric start available at a dealership near me.The Honda is far superior-starts every time and runs smoothly and cuts better.

Woke up to see this video, got all excited for Spring! Then looked out the window to see about an inch of fresh snow. Great timing. I blame you, JB. LOL

JB, my current Honda is 24 years old, still going strong all these years . I’ve maintained it myself and never had a really serious issue. Kudos to Honda, I’m very concerned about their production halt and figured that’s when my Honda will die . I can’t wait to see your future reviews on this machine and hope you send or Toro watches you for future upgrades to Recycler 2.0. Thanks for the great job .

Hey JB I was able to use my Toro Super Recycler 21564 today two weeks ago I sprayed the deck with GUNK Outdoor Equipment Mower Deck Spray when I was done mowing there was hardly any grass build up and what was there hosed off. Next time I'll take before and after pictures

I have the electric model I bought about a year ago. I love it. I love the quiet, no oil and gas to handle, and I can take the battery out and tip it any way i want without worrying about what is going to spill our. I don't know if they made any improvements, but the rear wheels started to wobble a bit and not be rock solid. Culprit, the plastic inner tube split. Solution, I put a hose clamp on each wheel and reassembled. Problem solved. I did some other mods to make it do what I wanted it to do. I probably should ask for new ones, but eh.

Purchased 2024 May but found it was built in 2022 with the engine 2021 Sept! It does surge after running 10 minutes over bumpy or sloped lawn. Really annoying for an $900 mower. Will take to dealer but they insist it be dropped off and wait in line for repair rather than call me when it can be looked at being I am 1 mile away. Have to question what they may do to fix as the only way to confirm repair is long test on bumpy lawn. I have video to show how bad it surges when it decides to do that. Will see where this leads to as many try this are found online but none appear to know true cause.

First off thank you for the videos that you posted about this Super Recyler from Toro. I ordered one, it came damaged and I had done research for over 3 weeks before I landed on this mower. My unboxing was not like yours, the box was crushed on one end and I should have known from there it was going to be an issue... I took the package anyway and sure enough the push bar was bent and other little things made me think, maybe this is not for me.

Pleasently I watched these videos and went to my local Ace Hardware here in TX and found one already out of the box so I could test everything (while in the store so not EVERYTHING). The bar folded like it was supposed to, the handle locks engaged properly, the air cleaner foam sleeve was not put on poorly and all 4 wheels touched the ground... There is something to be said about retail that gives you that comfort of seeing to believe.

I wanted to double thank you for the spark plug wire hint. I just filled mine with oil and while waiting for the oil to settle I checked the plug wire... Sure enough.... a small push and it was not fully locked in, so I did not get the sputtering but, I think I may not, so thank you for posting this info it is super helpful. After a week of mows I will check back in, I have a thick 3.5 in St Augustine yard about a 1/3 of an acre and will adjust one side to get a flat cut on my edges so I will let you know how it goes making that adjustment each week.

On a side note, for those who do need to adjust for the nice crisp edge it might be worth mentioning that some of the platforms that have just adjustment for the whole deck, the pain of doing all 4 wheels does suck, but to be able to adjust for the specific need does come in handy for all 4 wheels.

Bought this model new from a local lawn and garden power tool store. By the fourth time using it, the thing wouldn't move. Called the store and the service tech told me how to adjust the personal pace. 4 times and I am already doing the work on it. Not happy about that, but, I do like the machine. Also, The front air "wedger" can get plugged with grass clippings real quick if you don't rinse it out with a hose. When I registered it, toro sent me the "rear" side discharge chute. Free.

I have used this exact mower for about a season and a half cutting my St. Augustin in Texas and I have ZERO complaints on this mower. No sputtering, cuts my grass perfect.

I bought this Toro last March 2022 no engine sputtering on mine. The grass does stick to the deck so I use the smart stow to stand it up and Hose it off. Can't wait to see a video of yours running.

I have an old Toro lawnmower that has a Honda engine on it that’s 20 years old. Just recently bought a new Honda HRX217VKA and can’t wait to get it. Home Depot and Lowe’s don’t offer them anymore. Had to get it from ACME tools hopefully they don’t cancel it since it’s backed ordered for 2-3 weeks.

I sold my 12 year old Toro Super Recycler on FB marketplace for a 2 year old Honda HRX 217. 1st thing I noticed was clumping lines. But new blades. Much better grass cutting. But leaf mulching is terrible. My old Toro never left a leaf in sight after fall cuts. Looking to another Toro Super Recycler

I'm using a 96 Toro commercial recycler II mower and couldn't be more happy. My parents bought a super recycler after mowing the yard one time. They weren't a fan of the personal pace. Other than that, it delivered a nice cut.!

I am in the market this year to buy a new push mower like the one you have picked up. My six year old Toro super recycler has mowed six yards per week for the last six years. I had the transmission replaced last year, and now the deck has broke on the side discharge. I’m getting that welded, but its time for a new one.
One of the problems I have found is the adjustable wheels. They have always been difficult to operate. A big plus is the engine. It has never failed to start. Not sure yet what will take its spot on my trailer this year. I will be watching.

I have a 10 year old 6.5 hp Briggs Toro Personal Pace mover. Had to replace the ignition coil last year - $12 Amazon. I change the oil every year. Does not burn a drop.

Im a loyal Honda mower fan like you now, after my Troybilt I had for 13 years had finally needed to retire (engine was starting to burn oil and would backfire on occasion). I always wanted a Honda because of the throttle control (Of which doesnt exist on most mowers anymore), the blade stop feature with the engine still running and the hydrostatic transmission (no belts to contend with). I havent looked at your channel line up to see if u did a review of a Snapper mower, but much to my surprise, they are still being made. Looking through all the mowers available besides Honda, Snapper is honestly the only next best option once Honda disappears from the U.S. market. Snapper still uses the fly wheel disc self propel system and was also the first self propelled lawnmower ever made. The mower has a speed control and throttle control, I dont know about a blade stop feature, but anyway, would be awesome if you could get your hands on one of the new Snapper mowers if you havent done a review of one already and give us a review. I'd love to see it in action. My parents used to have an old snapper mower and the thing lasted over 30 years, they are built strong and reliable and at least briggs and straton was doing a better job of their engine builds back then too. We recently got rid of the Snapper mower (only because the handle bar didnt adjust high enough for a 6'3" person as myself so mowing with it was uncomfortable with the handle bar so low and non adjustable, otherwise if the handlebar was height adjustable, Id of hell of on to it, instead I gave it to a landscaping company owned by mexicans who are short and would appreciate it) after I bought a 2nd Honda Mower and brought my slightly older one less than 2 year old HRX217HYA to my parents house since I maintain their yard for them).

I’ll be waiting for the grass to grow in Buffalo to see how it works out. I’ve been using a 1994 Craftsman with aluminum deck and looking to replace it for my last mower. It’s been great and only replaced the wheels, blade. Starts on 2nd pull. Hate to replace the old stuff if working well. 1971 Ariens with Predator lives on!

JB, I have this exact mower (21564) and an Ariens 824 that's just a handful of years newer than yours :) I've never had an issue with the motor running smoothly at all. It goes up hills and over bumps like a beast. My neighbors have an electric Toro and it simply does not cut as well as this machine. I have no issues with the shape of the handle. My deck doesn't have the rough edges underneath that yours does. My only real complaint is how the wires are managed/loose. You'll find out when you put it in the stow position. I'm looking forward to your take on sharpening it's blades and changing the oil on an engine that claims only topping up is necessary.

Also, I love the personal pace system. Hands down, I'm so glad I went with the Toro because of this feature alone instead of a Honda.
