Good tuts. I just wanted to learn developing games for mobile devices from scratch. I've already started the Java programming for beginners from bucky, but if you think this series or any other from new boston, is more suited please direct me towards it?.

C:\PROGRA~1 is the exact same as C:\Program Files in both windows 32 and 64 bit.
The difference is, there is no spaces, which lets command lines (which the emulator uses) execute it in a line of code.

is not a reference to res/layout/main.xml, its a reference to the static integer in /gen/R.java

yeah, the sdk manager is there to download sdk versions, and the avd manager is there to set up your virtual devices

I dont know if things I downloaded are different because it's been to years or because he's using a mac.

So i'm assuming you got to the point where you pasted the one you needed into the SDK location in the preferences.

What i suggest is, make sure your using the correct location that i provided, by checking the C drive and the android install location, then paste the one you need into the SDK location bar in the prefrences, and then click apply. Then click OK.

If this doesn't work, i am at a loss, sorry.

Also, to test that it worked just try to launch the emulator.

assuming your using the new version of the sdk its in the menu folder in res, but the activity_main.xml file is much better and is the same as the older version

I'm not sure, but I've had this problem. In the Virtual Emulator, you should go to edit and choose how much ram the emulator will use. I noticed when I had that error, my ram was at 1024. I was on a forum and they said change it to 512. I did and it magically worked! Dunno if it will work on you, but give it a shot.
