There was a researcher who was always told by his mom not to crack his fingers, so he only cracked the fingers on his right hand for 40 years straight, then took an X-ray. No difference in the hands!

I know DrMike is a trained professional... However, I'm not letting anyone "crack" my neck, if I can't crack their neck first. I'm too worried about being paralyzed.

Which explains why stretching feels so good. Whenever I have a good stretch I can feel the relief sensation go throughout my entire body

My wife has a doctorate in physical therapy.
Chiropractors are her arch nemesis.
While it can provide immediate relief for discomfort, it is not a long term solution. It’s like putting a band aide on the real problem.
Go see a chiropractor for your quick fix and then go to a PT to correct the issue long term.

I was told that people who are more likely to develop arthritis feel the need to crack their knuckles more, not the other way around

It’s called cavitation, and it actually causes a release of endorphins, which is why it makes you feel better. This is why you feel good leaving the chiropractor, but the euphoria is short lived. Hence why you will be back the following week. If chiropractors actually solved the problem, you would only have to go for a short period of time. But most people that seek chiropractic care have been going for years. But that’s a good business model I suppose

You don't pop the bubbles. You increase the joint cavity space, and create a vacuum, which in turn fills up with gas and forms bubbles. And that is followed by the pop we hear. The reason why we can't crack knuckles for example multiple times in a row - is that we have to wait for those bubbles to dissolve in joint liquid. Once that's done, we can go again.

Chiropractors aren’t mainly trying to crack your joints, they’re actually realigning your muscles and joints to bring them back to a healthier more stable position. It can also help people exercise properly and correct posture during exercise and other everyday physical activity.

I used to crack my own neck and ended up giving myself a mini-stroke. Never again. Now I have fibromyalgia and more pain that I did when I was cracking my neck. Don’t crack your neck or have it cracked.

What most people don't know,
If you stretch often, you don't "crack".
8 years of yoga and I stopped popping basically everyhring after a few months.

I’ve never been able to crack my knuckles, but any time I do, it’s accidental. However, I constantly pop my neck because of how tense it is, and it feels so good afterwards

I can't find somewhere you did a piece on Heimlich maneuvers, but the fact that you emphasize chest compressions and mentioned in one post that when someone's choking you can actually push the item further into the throat by trying to scoop it out actually saved my son's life.
When my kids' grandma gave my daughter (4) a sucker she "shared" it with my son (2) and he bit it and then a piece got stuck in his throat and he was trying to scream but only squeaked, then his lips started turning blue. I was just coming up the walk when Granny came running out of the house carrying him and yelling for someone to help. I reached for him, told her to call 911, got on my right knee, and bent his upper body across my left leg and then slapped his back several times. I pulled him up to look in his mouth to see if I could see what he had in his throat, but he went limp. I laid him down, checked for a pulse and it was weak but there, saw that he still wasn't breathing, so I knelt over his legs and used my palm to push in toward his back and up toward his head on the bottom of his chest several times. I checked his mouth again and saw the top of the candy bit DIDN'T try to scoop it out. I instead turned him over my knee again and pounded on his back a few more times. The candy fell out and THEN I lifted him into my arms and put my mouth over his mouth and nose to blow a breath into his lungs. He immediately started screaming when I stopped blowing, and it was the most wonderful sound I've ever heard. I wasn't trained in infant or children's CPR or doing a proper Heimlich but thanks to your posts and a few other YouTube videos I was able to save my child. The paramedics checked him out, but he was fine after being unable to breathe for nearly three minutes. He's now in elementary school and intellectually top of his class.

I just love to see people look shocked when I crack my spine.
It's pretty loud.

Just be aware that if you feel the need to crack your back many times per day to relieve pain. It could be due to a muscle instability, and may require physical therapy, or sometime just fixing your posture to correct.
