To me, the saddest moment in the entire story wasn't when Shirley died, it wasn't when Rolo died, it wasn't any of the sadness that came with C2's immortality, and it wasn't when Lelouch realized that his life was a lie- Hell, it wasn't even when Euphemia died. No, it was that heart wrenching moment when you are put into Nunnally's shoes, watching your brother's corpse slide down the imperial float, realizing all too quickly that the only way something like this could've happened was if Lelouch had allowed-- even ordained it to be so. You realize in that moment that you've been tricked. The show, no *he* tricked you. Lelouch hadn't gone mad with power, not even for a second. He stayed true to his intentions until the bitter end. He did it all to bring peace to the World, he did it all for his little sister. I know it might sound like I'm simply restating the obvious here, but just try to imagine what that would feel like if you were Nunnally, so confused and afraid, wondering where everything had gone so wrong... And in an instant, it all makes sense. And what must have felt like the only family you ever had is laying at your feet, dead. I think Code Geass isn't a story about a god in the making, nor is it about a mad king. No... It's about a man. As kind as he was brilliant. A man who put his priorities in the right place. Power doesn't matter. People do. Lelouch wasn't just brilliant enough to attain power, his intelligence went beyond that. He observed what would really matter in the end. He chose a directive and held to it. He committed.
