Conversion of galvanometer into voltmeter | Moving charges & magnetism | Physics | Khan Academy

To convert a moving coil galvanometer to a voltmeter, we add a high series resistance, but why?.
The high resistance causes most of the voltage to drop across it, leaving a small voltage drop across the galvanometer.
This also ends up making the voltmeter have very high resistance. Ideal voltmeters have infinite resistance.

this is so cool. i admire your way of teaching. so different from conventional classroom teaching, you really know how to cement the idea inside a student's mind. i love how you add a storyline to each concept and make it more interesting, kudos to you ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻

I just don't know why many people see your videos these are awesome .

Reason : they don't need concept they need short tricks and formulae

Well, I just checked the price of a new voltmeter. It'll just cost under Rs.200. So, I don't think *my friend* would be willing to spend 300 rupees to lose her old galvanometer and get a *renewed* voltmeter 😂😂 Btw, gr8 video 👍🏻

if I had a teacher like Mahesh sir, I would have been the next einstein. These brainwashing institutions killed my passion and interest towards physics

I seriously thought I won't get the concepts of conversion of Galvanometer into ammeter and voltmeter..cause I tried so many videos.. literally shaking me up with those terrible formulas😂 and then suddenly Khan academy striked to my mind to be presise, recommended by YouTube..I was like..I was such a stupid to scroll too much when I knew Khan academy has it all.. THANKYOU SO MUCH SIR FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE..!! 😊

Nobody tells the inside story, how actually things works. I know 100s of postgraduate teachers who don't know how this stuff actually works, but teaches it mechanically.

Thanks mahesh shenoy!
Such a cool physics teacher.
I never thought it would help even for my entrance exams, but I realised that developing intuition is above everything.

I have been following your channel since an year after getting to know your khan academy tutorials!
