I Made The Ultimate Heated Cat Shelter! (DIY)

Norwegian winters can be brutal for small cats, so I built this insulated house for my mom's cat. Made from simple 2x2" wood, with 50mm foam insulation, wooden panels, and a custom metal roof, it provides a warm, safe place for the cat to relax and access food.

The heated floor is controlled via an app using Eaton xComfort, and the shelter also features an exterior downlight with an automatic timer and a chip-activated cat door.

My favorite cat ever was a "Skögcat" or Norwegian Forest Cat and she was an absolute angel. Her fur was thick and dense, made just for those cold scandanavian winters. . . though here in California, she was pretty warm in the summer. This is a very cute project that any cat would love.

I have several stay cats that I house in my backyard. I bought them homes from Amazon and cover them with plastic for the winter. I wish I could make them a house like the one you made. It is beautiful.

Thank you for doing this! I’m currently building my stray cat an outdoor shelter… we’ve recently seen a rise in stray cats on my street and it’s heartbreaking to see them sneak under sheds or hide any place to escape the frigid temps. I’m behind because I’m a perfectionist but this pushes me to want to finish

Nice to have lifted it off the ground..👍we just had a really cold spell here in PA..it went down to below O*-10 …I had a heater blowing in to a shelter…I also have microwaveable heat discs..no electricity..We got thru it…
