Was that saw actually passed down through your family? It would be a really nice memento to have. I recently was digging through some of my dad's old stuff and found a Stanley 9 1/4 block plane that belonged to him. It certainly isn't as collectible as some but I intend to keep it and use it. I'm going to have to rewatch some of your sharpening videos because it's going to need some work done to it before I can get work out of it. As my dad would say you can ride all the way to Kansas City and back on that edge and never get a scratch.

Interesting history … Full of adages, also known as 'Saws' … (old English) !
I wish that you hadn't entitled the vid implying that 'Woodworkers are Spineless' !!! LoL Maybe it should have been ' Do Woodworkers' Spineless Back Saws Saw Backwards' … ?

I kind of miss that old backdrop. The new shop is great of course, but even though video you can kind of smell the old one.

Great video. Apparently I have a cheeky tenon back saw. That explains a lot. The last time I used it, was before electricity I think...probably because it was so cheeky...or maybe because I sawed my miter box in half. Great video, James. I enjoyed it. Hats off to Pappy Nubs and his frogman follies with the British Armada.

Also got a brief but impactful War of 1812 true story and a lesson from a true saw connoisseur. Thanks Stumpy.

Along with Old Timey, I loved the Blue Collar series as well!

I'm glad to see you video and audio quality has improved over time. The quality of the content has been spot on all along though. Really enjoy your videos.

Which if any of these backsaws is used for hand cut motets using a traditional miter box? How do these now compare to the Japanese saws ?

I love my sash saw. It is my workhorse. And yet I've never cut a window sash with it and hope that i never have to.

I love your early videos with their humour and information mixed in. I hadn’t seen that one before. I now know what my big backsaw is called and I can use it to rip tenons.

It's kinda nice to see an older show and the progression made in presentation and production!

Great review I had forgotten what my fathers backs saws where called. I have three generations of hand tools. I use them all out of instinct. Your a great teacher thank you for sharing your knowledge.
