A review and overview of the adorable war game Root. We look at the components, replayability, game flow, and bit of a look of whether it can work for two players or if it's strictly for four.

This is by far the best Root overview I have found on YouTube! I've been looking for a short video that sums up the game to present to prospective players, highlighting the asymmetry and a quick soundbite of each faction, but everything out there is reviews, strategy, and how to play videos, most of them 30 minutes in length or longer! Thank you for this excellent, brief overview.

You have such a nice Chanel. I would say that it’s a discovery of a month for me.

Great to know that you're considering revisiting this review now that Clockwork has come out! Whenever you do so, could you please consider offering some commentary on the other expansions regarding how they play for 2P?

We always wonder. Would we be okay with just the core box and clockwork? Does riverfolk enrich the experience for 2? Marauders is a no-brainer acquisition here? Etc.

Recent subscriber (after looking for Imperium reviews). Have you picked up the Clockwork expansion for Root? I've really enjoyed it playing solo, and it would also help with 2 player as you could add 1 or more bots to the game and they are relatively easy to run as well! I've played several solo games with 2 clockwork factions to make it a 3 player game.

"The factions are well balanced... with a few notable exceptions" *cuts to lizard cult* LOL yes, they're a strugglebus indeed.

Root is my favorite game 110%, but it's definitely 4-5 players without much flexibility on player count... and having 4-5 players that understand a complex game is a doozy to ask for!

Thanks I was wondering about this game. It looks like so much fun but not a great two player game. That's to bad. I'm thinking maybe Skulk Hollow would fill this woodland war idea better for two.
