Falling has never looked as cool as when displayed by Euler's Disc.

Named after the famous mathematician Leonard Euler (pronounced oiler), this desk toy is an amazingly fun-to-watch demonstration of several physics concepts.

With a flick of the wrist, the heavy chrome-plated disc call fall for up to two minutes! The exact motion is known as sprolling (a combination of spinning and rolling), and it causes the disc to make circular passes around the center of the base while remaining upright as it slowly falls.

As the disc loses energy, the angle between it and the base diminishes and an interesting whirring sound is created.

A set of magnetized holographic foils can be placed on the top of the disc to create interesting visual effects. Turn out the lights, add a laser pointer, and the ensuing light show is nearly beyond belief.

Don't be shy; smart stuff is fun!

My friend once fell for 9 seconds. He tripped over a backpack strap and then got halfway up before twisting his ankle and falling again. He ended up on the floor in a fabulous position.

Put this on a spinning Dark Side of the Moon record and I'm pretty sure you'll enter the fourth dimension

Is it bad that it made me feel uncomfortable that the disc didn't fall.

Sigh.. Yes, guys, Euler = "oiler". "Eu" in German makes an "oi" sound, as exemplified in names like Marco Reus. If you go to Wikipedia (link: you can hear the actual pronunciation of his name. Learn some culture, people.

When I first saw this on Grand Illusions I already thought something along the lines of "Vat19 would probably sell this if they come across it".

I have this. The amount of physics you can study from it is mind-boggling.
