You will serve better topspin serves (more spin, power and control) in a matter of minutes.

This may not be a huge change in the quality of your second serves but it's just another little part of the serve technique that will help serve at a higher level.

You'll see me demonstrate a simple exercises that helps you feel the role of the index finger and I'll show you a series of progressions on how to work on that in your serve sessions.

Your videos are the absolute BEST. I watch them over and over and the way you break things down and explain how and why it works makes so much sense. My serve has improved immensely. THANK YOU!

Using a straight index finger and bouncing the racquet off it to visualise and articulate the benefit - masterpiece! You are the best!

This was a great demonstration. I will try this on court as I am still struggling to hit Top-spin serves & slice serves 😭

One my favorite FeelTennis videos ever - I never felt comfortable w the trigger finger and I guess it’s because I didn’t understand the role. “Feel the finger under the racquet” w that exaggeration w the straight index finger makes this click instantly - thanks Tomaz for this ! Will be sharing w all my tennis buddies

I've been struggling with hitting topspin serves for a while now, I'll go to a court and hit serves for a long time, but I could never wrap my head around how to really get the topspin (also had wrist overuse strain multiple times too). Excited to try this out.

Venus Williams said the same thing on her serve videos. She said its easier to pronate and increase racket head speed when the index finger is spread out a little. Its subtle but she does mention it. I like that you are teaching this too.

This is a great tip. I have a good slice and flat serve, but this makes a ton of sense for how to get my top spin serve up to snuff.

Interesting point; I'll definitely check it tomorrow when I play. It would have been nice to see you also serving from the deuce court. Thank you/Dom N

I watched the video and had my doubts. I made the change to the grip and focused on using the base knuckle to accelerate the racket head. With this grip change, I got more speed on the topspin serve and the “sound” of the strings brushing the ball. You know what “sound” I’m talking about. I encourage everyone to spread the index finger on the serving grip. Try it! It really works!!!

Nice tips, Tomaz! I also remember you mentioned the index finger has another help that point the target where you are trying to hit in court in your flat serve, right?
