This captures the feeling of someone who tells themself/pretends that they've given up, but who still has a fire burning under the surface quite well!

Personal interpretation: this is Aubrey's theme after the neutral ending. Since no one knows about the whole Mari stuff Aubrey thinks that she lost her older sister figure to suicide, bullied one of her childhood friends into suicide and that cause a chain reaction leading to a second friend killing himself. She feels alone and guilty and barely thinks anything has worth

Personal interpretation, this song reminds me of how Aubrey must feel alone in her room after fighting Sunny and Kel in the church. She pushes her emotions down by saying “It means nothing”, and that she’s being dramatic. Essentially, belittling her own emotions after hearing what those in church had to say about her being “disrespectful” and how they “felt bad for her mother.” The song feels vulnerable in a different way. Anyway take this text bucket

Pretending not to care is a habit of those who care the most.

As opposed to 'It Means Everything' - where she feels anger, hate, and spite for her entire situation, I guess It Means Nothing is the sad, depressing counterpart to that. where she wonders why she even cares so much in the first place... amazing the interpretation that can come out of 1 song

Personal interpretation: this music was playing when she came home after the fight with Sunny and Kel. Not long ago she thought she had come to terms with the fact that her old friends would never come back into her life and that the past would eventually let her go.

But after 4 years they came back, said that she had become a complete scumbag and demanded that she give back what was perhaps the most precious thing to her.

She was about to tear up all their shared photos, but seeing Marie's face she calmed down a little and decided to keep the photos with her for herself and just throw the rest away

I imagine Aubrey yelling at Sunny in good ending "How could you do this to us? TO ME? Do you know who you killed? Mari was a good sister to you! Hell, she was like MY SISTER and better adult figure that my shitty parents, who always fights each other! AND YOU ALONG WITH BASIL KILLED HER BECAUSE OF YOUR INCOMPETENT AT STUPID VIOLIN?! YOU KNOW WHAT? FORGET ABOUT FRIENDSHIP! FORGET THE FEELINGS I USED TO HAVE IN YOU! IT MEANS NOTHING NOW! DO YOU HEAR ME?! IT! MEANS!! And then she's strikes at him, despite Sunny's injuries, and thus, a battle endure while playing this theme.

“Look at the girls hair, and how’s she’s dressed.”
“What a delinquent. No lady should ever behave this way.”

As much as I like the neutral ending aubrey comparisions, I think it would actually be more fit into Kel's theme. For Aubrey, it means everything. She fully believes in that thought. She refuses to forget. But Kel on the other hand, is her complete opposite in this manner. He drowned himself in things distracting him from Mari's suicide. Completely ignoring everything surrounding the haunting event. He tried to convince himself that for him, It Means Nothing.

I kinda got a vibe where this could be an alternate reality to OMORI. Like, after Mari's death, Aubrey lost the notion of why it's important to have friends and people close to her, since she's going to lose all of them anyway. So instead of being actually furious about the whole situation and how people decided to just move on, she just grew cold to everything and everyone, becoming a sort of lone wolf.

When Kel and Sunny reach Aubrey, she's not with the Hooligans, but became a delinquent on her own due to her own loneliness. And when they talk to her, she treats them as trash, demanding them to get away or else she'll beat them up. They insist on talking to Aubrey when she finally reveals that nothing matters to her anymore, because she lost everything with Mari's death, as everyone left her behind by herself, so she doesn't care about why Sunny returned, what really happened to Mari, etc.

This would also change Aubrey as her fight wouldn't show emotion and anguish, but a coldhearted reunion which would just result on someone getting injured for no reason whatsoever.

I don't know, it's just my take on all this.

waah this is so cool!! i like how the original was "it means everything" with a dark/upset tone whereas this is "it means nothing" with an uplifting/hopeful tone

Feels like this one plays if Aubrey saves Sunny on the roof, she hugs him and prevents him from falling, she does not know how to comfort someone but she does know what bravery is so she berates him for being a coward, trying to run away from the problem and not giving a fuck about what others think of him all because he is scared, but she tells him that since Sunny have come this far and have been able to even see/confront his friends again, why would he run away now? she asks him if Mari would be happy if he tries to run away again this time, Aubrey has never shown that amount of kindness as a form of defense mechanism but this time, she's willing to do it if it meant saving what's left of her friends again.

More over the song feels heroic, like the character knowing that they have been through worse, that as long as they still have themselves, they won't go down that easily, they know that if they were to do things differently than before, perhaps even getting a happy ending in a horror story is possible, they know it's difficult but screw it! it never said it was impossible either.

The theme that plays as Aubrey watches a long dead Sunny being pulled out of his own house in a body bag after the night where she was still reeling from the death of Basil.

Seeing Aubrey after the "neutral ending"
Would fucking destroy me.

Which is exactly I've been planning it out in my head for months

That made me think how Sunny an Kel interpreted the church fight, maybe they interpreted her emotions in the way that appears on this video, thinking that Aubrey didn't care about their old friendship and that she hates them now, and the "It means everything" OST is how Aubrey really felt.

I love how the title both juxtaposes It Means Everything and the song itself. It's more dirty and enraged than It Means Everything, but also steadier, more focused, yet at 0:32 it actually quiets, going into a discordant piano melody. It's like instead of lashing out, Aubrey's struggling to keep her emotions from boiling over.
