A big gap in heterogenity of habitat is age structure and light structure. Species richness = young to ancient plants (bushes, trees as keystone, megaplants (ancient ones)) i.e. age structure alongside sun-loving to shade tolerant i.e. vegetation structure, open-grown to closed canopy i.e. light structure.
