Absolutely a TON of great tips here for newer or frustrated players.

Couple thoughts ….

Give every vehicle a chance eventually. The Tuz 166, briefly shown in the vid, is a great example. It’s a rockstar, especially with JAT tires equipped.

It’s tempting to just recover to the garage after completing a task. Instead, leave that truck there. Odds are, it’ll soon be useful in a future task nearby.

All upgrades are not created equal, and just because you can, it doesn’t mean you should. The Western Star 6900 Twinsteer is a lot more stable on 55” tires with the stock suspension than it is while Raised on 63” tires for instance. Same goes for the Scout 800; it’s a lot more stable on 35’s with the stock suspension. With the roof rack, and/or 39” tires equipped, she’s rather tippy. So experiment and figure out what works best for you.

On console (xboxe one) i have a mod that can tell you the weight of a cargo, how much space it needs and you can even see how a tier can perform so its a bit easier to choose tiers

I like preparing a bunch of contracts without tracking them and then recording what trucks I used in my notes so I know which truck is used for which contract. This allows time to take break from SR and come back to it later, then all I have to do is get the trucks from A-B. I don't like tracking everything at once due to OCD (lol). Sometimes I may prep until I'm out of trucks. This makes sure that all vehicles are being used. And depending on the pick up and delivery points I may just use one two slot flatbed and make multiple trips if the route is short. It's fun to play this way, because then I can see where highway trucks could be utilized.

For rescue trucks, right now I have about six PLAD 450s with the multi-utility attachment. Three for each map if I'm working in with a two map region. The PLAD is a perfect application for its weight and strength to pull anything back on it's wheels. It's powerful enough to go anywhere and it's fuel efficient. The multi-utility attachment has repair points, fuel, and a crane so I don't need to put loading cranes on every truck. Aesthetically, loading cranes on old trucks don't look good imo (Tayga 6455B is the exception though).

After a series of contracts is over I will do a full trailer and truck recoveries to clean things up so its nice and tidy for another big prep.

As an extra step now after I scout the whole region hitting the watchtowers, I'll pull out the Burlak 6x6 or EarthRoamer SX and pull a radar trailer around to clear up all the black and grey. It's extra and totally not needed. But I enjoy it. Then I have fully cleared region to do all my prep.

Love it and I just started. Now I can drown trucks while not on the job whenever I feel llike it. Really great idea and a fun one. More machines, more terrains / solid idea.

This game is so time consuming, between work, college and family time, I cant find the time. i own this game though, loved mudrunner when I was less busy. nice video.

I've gotten over 1000 hours in the game and i think a good tip is have a sharp eye for terrain for newer maps, cattails off to the side? Swamp section since theyre known to grow in swamps, icy terrain? ride the edge, keeping one set of tires out of the water is a sure way to drag yourself out of it, and probably the most missed one is if the road looks too small for the big truck, it 100% is and don't risk jackknifing a heavy load for a shortcut

Instead of breaking your truck, use the winch and pull the tree it'll normally come down if you get enough speed and pull hard enough.

Thanks so much for this video. I just got snow runner on my new PS4 and I was a little disappointed at the very first but now that I’ve watched this. I’m much more excited about it. Thank you.

Imo the struggle of driving on the muddy roads is fun. So i intentionally drive on the muddy road sometimes cause it's fun. Getting stuck and trying to get unstuck is fun. I doesn't always have to be about efficiency, sometimes just enjoy the game.

my best early game advice is to go for the p16 almost right away. especially in hard mode, its a great truck for rescue and restore missions since it can go places most other trucks cant until you unlock better mud tires for all classes. makes the good paying early game long log missions a cakewalk too. even in tough regions like imandra and chernokamensk its a good option for getting garages up and running.

Old trucks you don't use any more make great repair and refuel points. You only need to drag them out into the map once. I normally use the International and Ford COE's as deep forest refuel points.

I'm thinking of buying this game but after watching so many vids about it, I didn't realize this game can be quite complicated. But still, I'm open to a new and different gaming experience.

As in "beautifully crafted", you mean non-stop deep mud and snow literally everywhere? 😂

if you're able, use keyboard & mouse for winching and plotting your path, much easier & quicker

The thing that solidified Snowrunner as a great game to me, was a moment in one the earliest missions I did:

I only had the starting highway truck (Can't remember its name) and the Fleetstar that you get when you unlock the garage. I was trying to tow a fuel tanker through some deep mud, and got the Fleetstar stuck, I thought about just recovering and driving back there, but what was to stop me getting stuck again? So I had the idea to use the Highway truck to tow it free, but it was tough getting it there since I had little to no upgrades at the time, and got the Highway truck stuck repeatedly.

But eventually with grit, patience and lots of winching, I managed to get to my stranded Fleetstar, towed it free, had the Fleetstar winch the tanker free, and then went on my way. After I did that mission I just thought. "In any other game, that would have been a scripted event, here it happened dynamically and organically. I CHOSE to use another truck instead of just restarting."

Until that moment I still wasn't sure about the game, but once I did think that, THAT was the moment I knew I'd really enjoy Snowrunner. :)
