Hello and welcome to this video lesson of basic hieroglyphics, which covers a few simple rules and the alphabet. At the end of this video you will be able to write your name in hieroglyphics, but it will not enable you to decypher, for instance, any texts in hieroglyphics. There is a lot more to writing hieroglyphics than just knowing their modern day alphabet equivalent of each letter. There are a lot more hieroglyphs than just the ones that represent modern day letters, and I have no knowledge of these ones, feel free to look into the subject further if you have an interest in learning more about this fascinating language. Also, for those of you who paid close attention you will have noticed that I did not cover the letter O, and this is because to my knowledge there is no equivalent of the letter O in the hieroglyphic alphabet.
