being a scribe was an incredibly powerful position, and it took a LOT of education and practice. that being said, i wonder how quickly the scribes could bang out these hiroglyphs.

The small sound when the wood leaves the wax after every carve is so good!

So we’re not gonna talk about how beautiful and well done he drew the hieroglyphs??

I wonder if people would tease others for their messy hand writing during those times

i love when asmrtists speak very lightly and like they’re not fully whispering. its more tingly instead of whispering in my opinion

Hieroglyphics were only used in temples' walls or pyramids' walls to show the stories of whatever they wrote about and there are more writing types they used other than hieroglyphics, just wanted to let y'all know <3

What you said around 9:24 about "...knowing the language and filling in the vowels yourself..." _because_ they aren't written is fascinating! Why don't they teach that in History classes?

I think the notion of "an entire language needing to be lived to be learned" is a beautiful idea. It also makes sense that it would be mostly-spoken rather than written when most people could do only that: speak. That almost blows my mind. We take literacy for granted: languages used to be designed without it!

The explaining that you gave on the history of Egyptian hieroglyphs was absolutely amazing
