Once helped a small home business who needed to backup their files to an external harddrive, simply by writing a batch script file, put a link on their desktop and just said, hit the link every evening when you shut down and let it run. Never got any complaints. But I guess that must have been in XP era.

Great explanation, but would be nice to know how to execute from the command prompt itself or in a terminal in VS Code; although, I would assume it's as simple as just typing the name of the batch file and pressing enter

Interesting. How do you know what to call the files you want to open? Do you just call them by their file name?

I just use batch files for powershell scripts and really any language I can directly execute onto my system this is useful for things like basic software like malware removal tools and etc.

Correction: while saving the text file, under the 'Save as type' section, u left the file type as 'text documents (*.txt)', this will save ur file as a text document, no matter what. U need to change that to 'All files', only then will windows change this file to a batch file
