All good except TIP Number 5. DON'T apply black bars, except its only in a select part of the 16/9 video. If you want ultrawidescreen (21/9 - 2.35 aspect ratio) change your project resolution so that anyscreen it can be viewed properly on any screen of any size.

Awesome video... missing 1 important item to making that video cinematic... Mute this video while watching and see how cinematic it feels.. then turn the music back on.... pick the right music! -- Good Job Mathieu

Thank you for putting together all these tips in such a user-friendly, straight to the point video. Some of the tips we knew, some we ignored, some we just forget about when shooting/editing... Great reminder for all of us. Merci Mathieu!

I agree with #10. Cool fonts just make you look smart. :)
But...on #8 If you use S-log on a Sony alpha, the histogram should have peaks averaging in the upper half.
Have fun with your camera, folks!

This 10 easy steps will make your video more cinematic:
1. Frame Your Shots: Use the rule of thirds
2. Create a shadow depth of field: Use a lens between F3.5 and F1.2
3. Stabilize Your moving footage: Use a gimball or a steadycam.
4. Use the "warp" stabilizer effect in premiere pro.
5. Add cine bars
6. Color Grade your footage
7. Slow down your footage : if you dont have a gimball, than you can slow your footage down and your handheld Shots will be nice and smooth.(use high frame rate (60, 120, etc.)
8. Use the Histogram on your camera
9. Use a slider.
10. Use some epic font

In all sincerity, thank-you for these tips, Mathieu. Last September I was in South America (Galapagos --- photographers eye candy) with a group and two of the guys had brought a drone and a gimbal. Cool equipment for sure! All I had was my dinky iPhone. I took a few shots using some camera moves, let them look and they both went, "WOW! How did you do that?" Well, I had 27 years in the TV business, primarily as a cameraman and said, "Gentlemen, before there was steady-cam, there was steady hand." Sometimes it's not the tools in the box but how you use them. Even old guys like me have to keep up on new techniques and I think, hey! I need to try that! It looks really cool! So, yeah. Keep going, my friend. Great tips!
