6-12 db of gain reduction is absolutely criminal. Not to mention the additional clipping / limiting

Many people in the comments dont seem to get the thing about loudness so let me try to help here

Loudness itself isnt good or bad. Its a tool in ur toolkit to achieve the vision of ur client (or ur own). In order to understand WHEN to make ur stuff loud, u have to understand what loudness actually does to ur music.

As a mastering engineer u wanna understand the intent that ur client has made that Track with.
So if a client tells u "Yo, i want this track to be making people go crazy and jump around", then its ur Job to follow THIS vision. And loudness can be an appropriate/common way to achieve exactly that.

If u master a Song to -5 LUFS but it hasnt been intended to be LOUD/Compressed, it will RUIN the Song.
If u master a Song to -16 LUFS but it hasnt been intended to be QUIET/Dynamic, it will RUIN the Song too.

This is NOT a question about Genre, Skill, Rules, Technicalities or any of that bs. Its about understanding ur tools correctly.

What happens if u listen to a dynamic song loudly?
It sounds pokey and harsh
What happens if u listen to a loud song quietly?
It sounds weak and distorted

U choose

Video should be called 'How to smash the dynamic rage out of your music'.

Here's how I do it: Get fat transients during the mixing stage. When mastering use compression, saturation and pro-l 2. Push it to -6 dB gain reduction and you should be good. This depends mostly on the mix.

Now do this in a way I can follow along in FL Studio and explain the concept of

All these people don’t know anything, who needs dynamics anyway 😏😂

Not me getting my tunes to -2 LUFS XD Sounds fine to me, just making a ton of sacrifices

Great tip!
But to treat each track first works even better.

Loud master comes like 95% from the mix. You have to compress and saturate each element a lot (not so much that they sound bad, obviously) and you will hit -7 to -9lufs without even limiting

It's usually the drums and bass that keep you from getting a louder master, crest factor. You'll just flatten the sound with those shitty plugins.

So we’re adding 3 limiters and a clipper? 😭 might as well just use one limiter (MAYBE 2) and/or use a mix bus compressor while mixing

Why do my mixes pump on laptop speaker the lowend overtakes the mix

Can you do this exact one except in Ableton

NOPE ... EVERY LIMITER has a Tone. 3 Limiter and 1 Clipper? Thats not Transparent.

Please don’t do this guys. Please don’t rely on self mastering to do what your mixing process should have done.

Mastering engineers (properly experienced with a good room and chain) have developed their ears in conjunction with their passion for sound and technology.

Just save up the money and take a well mixed project to a well established mastering engineer, and allow him (NOT YOU) to make essential limiting decisions.

In two minds to report this video for crimes against humanity. ;)

So you're literally just crushing and clipping the dynamics and gain boosting it back 🤦‍♂️
