This is so true. I like replacing networking with friends. ❤❤

I agree with this on some level but disagree with the "join their chat and treat them like a friend" unless they're a small streamer. Even then recognise they are a stranger right now who views you as a viewer not as a fellow streamer. If you want to let them know you stream don't do it out of the blue, don't ask for collabs in a chat, don't plug your channel. I made the mistake of doing this once and I didn't realise that's what I was doing. Also, just because you recognise them doesn't mean they recognise you. You know you're a familiar name if they excitedly say, "hey you're back!" Or something. Once they seem fond of seeing you in chat you can maybe open up a little more. It's a commitment. If they have DMs you could DM them and let them know you're a streamer and see if they're interested collabing. If you have a video or vod relevant to a topic at hand you could throw a casual mention in chat but only once you've built that familiarity. Another way of making creator friends is joining discords and subreddits around content creation or around the type of content you make. For example if you make minecraft videos joining minecraft communities is a good way of finding other creators. Joining actual creator communities can be hit or miss as to whether you'll actually make friends or if the people you meet will just see you as a business opportunity but it's another option. Growing your pressence online solo is also a good way because you may happen upon connections organically. Good luck everyone!
